According to Amnesty viat it s twitter handle @AmnestyNigeria, the reports of unidentifiable armed thugs unleashing violence on voters in Gama Kano is disturbing. Authorities must protect people of Gama from all forms of human rights violations.

Very disturbing reports from Kano of armed thugs of the ruling party unleashing violence on voters & journalists, in clear violation of human rights.

Journalists from the following media organizations were attacked today by armed thugs of the ruling party in Kano: -BBC -TVC -People’s Daily -Freedom Radio

Agents of the opposition political parties were also intimidated and harassed. As supplementary election goes on in some states, political parties and candidates must publicly condemn any advocacy of hatred or incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.

Nigerian authorities must protect people from violence and ensure full respect for freedom of expression, peaceful assembly & association before, during and after the country’s upcoming general election.

Both local and foreign observers condemned the poor organisation of the 2019 elections in Nigeria as the country has returned to the former President Olusegu Obasanjo electoral era.
