DEXTER: AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL OBIDIENTS IN OYO STATE

DEXTER: AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL OBIDIENTS IN OYO STATE

My dear brothers and sisters on the nission,

Now that the elections are behind us, I have taken time to reflect deeply on where we stand today as a movement in Oyo State. And with all sincerity, I must confess that my heart is heavy. Not because of defeat, but because of what threatens to destroy the very house we are trying to build.

Three things, if not urgently addressed, will scatter us before 2027 even arrives.

First is disunity. We are disadvantaged in numbers already, yet instead of closing ranks, we have allowed factions to grow among us. We quarrel, we slander, and we are too quick to pull each other down. My brothers and sisters, how can we win if we keep fighting ourselves?

Second is the mad rush for power and control. Too many want to lead, but very few want to serve. Yet true leadership is service, not titles, not positions, not personal empires. If our movement becomes about who controls what rather than who sacrifices most for the cause, then we are no different from the old order we are seeking to replace.

Third, and most painful, is the spirit of profiteering that has crept in. Some among us seem more interested in money than in the mission. When meetings are dominated by “who gets what” instead of “how do we build,” when funds meant for the struggle become the subject of endless quarrels, how then do we claim to be different from those we condemn?

I speak these words not to condemn, but to call us back to the path of truth. I must also pause here to offer a sincere apology. In the heat of the smear campaign launched against me, I reacted harshly at times. That was wrong. I take responsibility for those outbursts. As a leader, my duty is not to retaliate but to reconcile. One thing that the event has shown though is the depth of the ills I have highlighted above which I sincerely did not know about before now.

And so, I make this pledge to you today: my priority going forward is to unite this movement in Oyo State. I have reached out to other elders even those who are older and more experienced than me to also join hands with me in this regards, so that together we can heal these wounds. My office will also begin to contact every faction, every camp, every group. Because if we truly love our principal, His Excellency Peter Obi, then we must come together not as rivals, but as one family.

My beloved Obidients, the 2027 journey is not far. The old order is counting on us to destroy ourselves before we even get to the battlefield. We cannot let them win that way. Let us prove to them, and to the world, that we are different. That we are a people who can put ego aside, silence greed, and embrace one another for the sake of the greater good.

Let history record that the Obidient Movement in Oyo State chose unity over division, service over ambition, sacrifice over selfish gain. For only then can we truly deliver the new Nigeria we all dream of.

I extend my hand to every one of you, regardless of past disagreements. Let us begin again, in peace, in humility, in love.

With deep respect, hope and commitment,

*Dr. Femi Dexter Akin-Alamu*

State of Emergency in Rivers: You cannot determine a two-thirds majority by a voice vote. - Peter Obi

State of Emergency in Rivers: You cannot determine a two-thirds majority by a voice vote. - Peter Obi

The house of representatives has in a voice vote, approved the illegality of President Tinubu s proclamation of state of emergency in Rivers State where the elevated governor, his deputy and all the members of the state house of assembly were suspended.

H. E. Peter Obi said the National Assembly cannot determine a two-thirds majority by a voice vote.

There have been reports that his members of the National Assembly pocketed $25,000 each to ensure the passage of the state of emergency.

Obi who had earlier reached out to Labour Party members of the national assembly on the needs to avoid supporting the illegality of the Tinubu led APC presidency on state of emergency in Rivers State said the Constitution is clear that this cannot be done through a voice vote but by calling individuals to answer 'yes' or 'no.'

His words: "While still agonizing over the ongoing deterioration of democracy in our nation, especially with the situation in Rivers State, and trying to reach out to our National Assembly members not to support and sustain the unconstitutionality and arbitrariness, I just heard that they have added salt to injury by using a voice vote to pass the illegality ."

"The Constitution is clear that this cannot be done through a voice vote but by calling individuals to answer 'yes' or 'no.'"

"You cannot determine a two-thirds majority by a voice vote."

"While a two-thirds majority is crucial, it does not justify bypassing proper procedures and undermining the principles of transparency and accountability. "

"The use of a voice vote in such a significant decision not only disregards constitutional requirements but also erodes public trust in the democratic process as well as the transparency and integrity of the National Assembly . "

"Decisions of such magnitude must be made with integrity, following the letter and spirit of the law."

"It is disheartening that a decision as crucial as approving an emergency proclamation — one that could alter the course of the nation — has been  handled with such casual disregard for constitutional standards. "

'The 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended) clearly requires that such a proclamation must be approved by at least two-thirds of all members of each House — the Senate and the House of Representatives. "

"A simple call of "Aye" or "Nay" cannot accurately measure this crucial threshold."

"When a supermajority is required, it demands a recorded vote — whether by division, roll call, or electronic means. This isn't just a technicality; it's a matter of law and legitimacy. "

"The Senate Standing Orders and House Rules were established to ensure that decisions of this magnitude are made transparently, with accountability. "

"Ignoring these procedures is not just an oversight; it is a betrayal of the democratic process."

"A voice vote for such a critical matter is not just insufficient; it's a dangerous precedent. If we can bend the rules so easily, what stops us from undermining other pillars of democracy?

"Today, it's a voice vote on a state of emergency — tomorrow, it could be a voice vote on citizens' fundamental rights."

"It is painful to think that members of the National Assembly, who swore to uphold the Constitution, could participate in a process that sidesteps the very essence of due process. "

"We must ask ourselves: If the law no longer anchors our decisions, then what does?

"This is not just a flawed procedure; it is a warning signal. "

"We cannot afford to keep gambling with the soul of our democracy." Obi said.

School Fee Payments, Funds from International Firms Benefitted Yahaya Bello’s Children- Witness

School Fee Payments, Funds from International Firms Benefitted Yahaya Bello’s Children- Witness

Justice  Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Maitama, Abuja, on Friday, March 7, 2025  heard further testimony from prosecution witness Nicholas Ojehomon, an internal auditor at the American International School Abuja, AISA, in the ongoing trial of a former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello.

Ojehomon testified that all payments made for school fees at AISA, including those from international companies, were exclusively for the benefit of Bello’s children.

Led in evidence by  prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, SAN, Ojehomon detailed a series of payments, referencing several exhibits that documented the transactions. He confirmed that multiple payments were made in favour of Bello’s children, Zara Omoneke Bello, Fatima Bello, Na’ima Ohunene Bello, and Farid Bello through different companies.

Pinheiro directed the witness to exhibit 13p1 and asked him to identify the document. Ojehomon responded, “It is a bank teller sent to AISA via email from Ali Bello.” When asked to read the name of the sender from the document, he stated, “It was sent in by Forza Oil and Gas, and the recipient is AISA.”

The prosecution counsel then inquired about the amount indicated on the teller. “The amount is $49,600,” Ojehomon confirmed. “Is there anywhere on that document indicating for whose benefit the money was sent?” Pinheiro asked. “Yes,” the witness responded, “Zara Omoneke Bello.”

Similar patterns emerged as Ojehomon reviewed additional exhibits: Exhibit 13p2: $44,700 was sent by Forza Oil and Gas to AISA for Fatima Bello, exhibit 13p3: $49,600 from Forza Oil and Gas to AISA for Zara Bello, exhibit 13p4: $44,700 from Forza Oil and Gas to AISA for Fatima Bello Oziohu, exhibit 13p5: $11,000 from Whales Oil and Gas to AISA with “Farid Oricha” listed under the contract number, exhibit 13p6: $78,160 from Alyeshua Provision Services to AISA, benefiting Fatima Ohizio Bello, exhibit 13p7: $42,170 from Alyeshua Provision Services to AISA for Na’ima Ohunene Bello.

Others are; exhibit 13p8: $44,700 from Forza Oil and Gas to AISA for Na’ima Ohunene Bello, exhibit 13p9: $75,000 from Unnaki General Trading Limited to AISA for Na’ima, exhibit 13p10: $75,000 from Unnaki General Trading Limited to AISA, with “Farid Edu Support” listed under the beneficiary.

Exhibit 13p11: $75,000 from Unnaki General Trading plc to AISA for Fatima, with “Invoice Reference: Fatima Edu Support, exhibit 13p12: $75,000 from Unnaki General Trading Limited to AISA, with “Invoice Reference: Zara Edu Support, exhibit 13p13: A $100,000 transfer from Manzi Issa, a Ugandan national. Exhibit 13p14: A $90,000 transfer from Dada Grant Merchant Limited, also based in Uganda.

The prosecution also presented exhibit 14p15-63, a series of receipts issued by AISA. When asked to confirm the names on the receipts, Ojehomon stated, “The receipts were all issued in the names of the four children of Yahaya Bello.” He went on to name them in exhibit 14p-16 as: Bello Nana, Fatima Zara Bello, Farid Bello, and Na’ima Bello. When asked to identify the parent of the named individuals from AISA’s records, Ojehomon confirmed, “From the record of AISA, the parent of the names mentioned is Yahaya Bello.”

Further, Pinheiro asked, “Please confirm to the court that none of the receipts from exhibit 13p16-53 were issued in favour of Forza Oil and Gas, Whales Oil and Gas, Alyeshua Solutions Services, Unnaki General Trading Limited, Dada Grant Merchant Limited of Kampala, or Manzi Issa of Uganda.” The witness responded, “I hereby confirm that none of the receipts issued by AISA were in favour of any of the names mentioned.”

During cross-examination, defence counsel J.B. Daudu, SAN, attempted to tender certified true copies of receipts and rectification documents from a separate suit before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (Suit No. FCT/HC/CB/2574/2023, between Ali Bello and the Incorporated Trustees of the American International School). Daudu sought to introduce these documents as evidence.

However, prosecution counsel Pinheiro objected, arguing that “this is a criminal trial, and the prosecution is still leading its case.” He cited Section 232 of the Evidence Act, stating that “the only nature of evidence that can be tendered at cross-examination is a previous statement in writing by the witness for the purpose of contradicting his current testimony.” Pinheiro emphasized that “a party cannot be tendering documents from the bar at this stage; they must wait until their turn to prove their case.”

In response, Daudu insisted that the documents were relevant under Section 4 of the Evidence Act, arguing that “the prosecution itself has acknowledged their relevance.” He maintained that “the document is a public document and should be admitted.”

After hearing both arguments, Justice Emeka Nwite ruled that a decision on the admissibility of the documents would be made at the next hearing. The trial was adjourned to May 8 and 9, 2025, for further proceedings.

LP Crisis: Peter Obi, Otti Write INEC for Validation of Senator Nenadi Led 29-member Caretaker Committee

LP Crisis: Peter Obi, Otti Write INEC for Validation of Senator Nenadi Led 29-member Caretaker Committee

The presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the last general election, Mr. Peter Obi, and Governor of Abia State, Mr. Alex Otti, have written to the national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, to notify the regulatory body of the setting up of a 29-member caretaker committee to organise the party ‘s congresses and national convention within a period not exceeding 180 days.

The letter, dated September 6, 2024, and signed by Obi and Otti, also informed the INEC chairman of the leadership crisis in the party.

The letter formally unveiled the names of the 29-member caretaker committee.

In the letter, Obi and Otti, who convened the September 4 expanded stakeholders’ meeting of the party in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, where the committee was set up, stated, “You will recall that Labour Party had had a leadership crisis in recent times culminating in the de-recognition of the Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC) by INEC effective June 2024. This is sequel to the settlement brokered by INEC on June 27, 2022.”

The letter said the settlement was founded on the consent court judgement by Justice Gabriel Kolawole on March 20, 2018.

“A major part of the settlement states that an all-inclusive national convention, preceded by ward, local government and state congresses shall be convened not later than one year after signing the terms of settlement,” the letter said.

It added that because of the 2023 general election, the implementation of the agreement was deferred by one year to 2024.

Obi and Otti stated in the letter, “By March 2024, the Abure-led NWC organised a convention at Nnewi without first organising ward, local government and state congresses. This fell short of the standards and the spirit of the terms of settlement as stated above. In the light of all these, a leadership vacuum arose in the party. In like manner, the National Executive Committee membership got depleted leaving less than 10 members standing.”

The letter explained, “Given the above scenario, the statutory executives of the party made up of the governor, deputy governor, and legislators, in addition to all surviving members of NEC, the leadership of organised labour, representatives of governorship candidates in the 2023 election and subsequent ones, presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2023 election and other party leaders, met in Umuahia, Abia State, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 and set up a caretaker committee to organise congresses and the national convention within a period not exceeding 180 days to fill the vacuum created by the expiration of the tenure of the erstwhile leadership of the party at all levels.”

Obi and Otti also informed the INEC chairman that Senator Nenadi Usman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha were appointed by the stakeholders’ meeting as Chairman and Secretary, respectively, of the party’s caretaker committee.

The letter also listed other members of the committee representing critical stakeholders of the party.

They included representatives of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, Professor Theophilus Ndubuaku, and Comrade Chris Uyot.

According to the letter, the senate is being represented by Senators Victor Umeh, Neda Imasuen, and Ireti Kingibe, while the House of Representatives is represented by Hon. Afam Ogene, Hon. Seyi Sowunmi, Hon. Sunday Umeha, Hon. Donatus Matthew, and Hon. Esosa Iyawe

The former governorship candidates of the party were represented by Ken Pela (Delta), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (Lagos), Jonathan Asake (Kaduna), and Edward Pwajok (Plateau).

The members of the state Houses of Assembly in  the caretaker committee included Hon. Edosa Richard, Hon. Harrison Oghara, Hon. Augustine Okezie, and  Hon. Clinton Amadi

Representatives of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the committee were Mohammed Misau, Austin Jonah, and Sansa Omalara.

According to the letter, the other members of the caretaker committee are Edwin Bafte Sajo, Nike Oshola, Aishat Madijiem, Ugoeze Caroline Onwubiko, and Dominic Essien.

Arsenal ready €100m Osimhen bid

Nigerian Victor Osimhen will most likely end up at Arsenal, with Italian journalist Ciro Venerato reporting that the Premier League giants are ready to make a €100 million bid for the striker, which is €30 million short of the release clause set by Napoli in his recent contract. President of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, has made it clear that they will not entertain bids below his release clause, which would surpass Arsenal’s current transfer record of £105 million paid for Declan Rice last summer.

However, Arsenal hope to strike a deal for a more modest sum, around €100m or £85m. “[Arsenal] will now try with the Nigerian [who dreams of the Premier League], but not by paying the onerous amount of the clause, but a lower sum,” continued Venerato. “Napoli will have to evaluate the pros and cons.”

Nigeria's football governing body, NFF appoints Ex—Super Eagles player Emmanuel Amunike as the coach of the Senior National Team

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has officially appointed Super Eagles Legend Emmanuel Amunike as the New head coach of the Nigeria national team Super Eagles.

Emmanuel Amunike, a former Barcelona, Zamalek and Sporting Lisbon winger  who excelled as coach of the Golden Eaglets, leading the Nigeria U17 national team to win the FIFA U17 World Cup have won the race for the head coach position of the Super Eagles.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, decided to go with Amunike as the substantive head coach of the national team.

Amunike also impressed as head coach of the Tanzanian national team, guiding the Taifa Stars to qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations – their first in nearly forty years.

However, Amunike’s record with Egypt’s Misr Lel Makkasa and Zambia’s Zanaco left much to be desired.

The 53-year-old coach also fumbled when placed in charge of the Flying Eagles, failing to help the Nigeria U20 team qualify for the AFCON in 2017.

Aside from Amunike, USA U20 national team coach Michael Nsien, former Manchester City assistant manager Domenec Torrent, and Fortuna Sittard coach Danny Bruijs were all running to become the Super Eagles head coach.

Osun Gov Ademola Adeleke commissions Crescendo Sports Lounge in Osogbo

Osun Gov Ademola Adeleke commissions Crescendo Sports Lounge in Osogbo

...charges youths to risk investment opportunities

Osun State Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has commissioned Crescendo Sports Lounge in Osogbo, urging the youths to take advantage of the enabling environment of the current administration of Osun State.

He tasked the youths to take investment risks and count their gains, even in the face of economic downturn bedeviling Nigeria.

This assertion was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, who represented the Governor at the commissioning of the investment project at Alekuwodo Osogbo, on Friday 23rd February, 2024.

Recall that the commissioner paid a final inspection tour to the project site barely a week ahead of the day of commissioning.

Crescendo Sports Lounge, a subsidiary of A1 Pinnacle Services Ltd, in partnership with the Osun State Government, is a realization of a dream of the current administration to turn Osun from Civil Service State to an industrialized one.

The Commissioner described the Sports Lounge as a laudable achievement of Governor Adeleke, whose yearning is wooing local and international investors, since his assumption of office, now yielding positive and physical results.

"I make bold to say that, what we are commissioning today is the first of its kind in the entire South West region. The materials, especially, the synthetic grass are of international standard. Its strategic location will no doubt attracts sports lovers within and outside the State. By this project, some of our youths will be gainfully employed and their mental alertness developed through various sporting activities. These will equally boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)", the Commissioner said.

According to the Commissioner, " the phase we are commissioning today is just the first phase. As you can see, the phase II, that will house other indoor games will equally be completed and commissioned in no distant future. Mr. Governor, as a lover of Sports, will be on ground to cut the tape".

He appealed to  the "youths and all sport lovers to use the opportunity of this facility to develop their God-given talents. An adage says 'an idle hand is the devil's workshop'. Don't just pay to watch a match, but develop your skills as well".

"People who can risk investment are the ones to make gain in such an adventure. If there is no risk, there is no gain at the end of the day", he said.

"I want to laud the efforts of the Chief Executive Officer of A1 Pinnacle, Mr. Tunde Oladimeji, for deeming it fit to contribute his own quota to the development of our dear State. Other interested investors are assured of enabling environment to drive their businesses" Rev. Jenyo stated.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the Management team of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

PRINCE ARTHUR EZE'S REJECTION OF PETER OBI: A SIGN OF GOOD OAMEN, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS TROUBLE IN THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS IN NIGERIA, THE VERY REASON THE MASSES MUST STAND BY PETER OBI

PRINCE ARTHUR EZE'S REJECTION OF PETER OBI: A SIGN OF GOOD OAMEN, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS TROUBLE IN THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS IN NIGERIA, THE VERY REASON THE MASSES MUST STAND BY PETER OBI

Before I tell us why the open rejection of Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 elections by Prince Arthur Eze is a good OAMEN, a sign of good thing to come for the ordinary Nigerian and the very reason Nigerians must stand up to support Peter Obi, let me tell those who do not know Prince Arthur Eze who he is.

Arthur Eze is a Nigerian oil mogul, philanthropist, politician, and the CEO of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, the largest privately held Nigerian exploration and production group. The Igbos call him, ‘ozoigbondu’ of Igboland and he is said to be the 8th wealthiest man in Africa. Prince Arthur Eze is from Anambra State.

*WHY ARHTUR EZE IS AFRAID OF PETER OBI*

Before the emergence of Peter Obi as governor of Anambra State in 2006,  Anambra State was one of the most dangerous states in Nigeria, held down by armed robbers on one side and on the other side, a set of very greedy and dangerous political godfathers which included amongts others, Prince Arthur Eze,  Chief Chris Uba  and many others.

Anambra State became ungovernable from 1999 to 2003 under Gov. Chiwonke Mbadinuju, a PDP governor, as it was a constant tusle between the governor and these greedy godfathers on who to control the finances of the State. In order to make sure that Chiwonke Mbadinuju is not given a second term in office, the tusle let to the killing of the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Anambra branch and his wife  to finally tarnish the image of the then governor and put a stop to his second term ambition.

Chief Chiwonke Mbadinuju was succeeded in office by Dr. Chris Ngige another PDP governor in 2003 who was again sponsored by these greedy political godfathers and cabals. Again, Dr. Ngige was not allowed to rule the State as his refusal to part with almost all the internally generated revenue of the State  was seen as an a front and arround 2005, Dr. Ngige, a sitting governor was forcefully kidnapped and asked to resign which he refused.

By providence, in 2006, the Judiciary came to the rescue of the Anambra people by declaring Peter Obi the actual winner of the 2003 governorship election in the state which saw the removal of the cabal-sponsored Chris Ngige from office and brought normalcy back to the State and the cabals who had no hands in the emergence of Peter Obi had to return to whatever business they were doing and that marked the end of them feasting on Anambra treasury, an act Arthur Eze will never forgive Peter Obi.

Again, Prince Arthur Eze as one of the Igbo 'political leaders' has been one of those negotiating nationally for what comes to the Igbo people. He has since 1999 remained one of the cabals that is on the neck of Nigeria. Recent news has it that since 1999 to date, for  anyone to become governor of Anambra State, you must meet certain condition given by Arthur Eze, except in the case of Peter Obi, which has much to do with parting with certain percentage of the State's internally generated revenue and giving him powers to appoint certain numbers of commissioners. No wonder, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo(Nwa Mgbafo) and Prince Arthur Eze are currently best of friends and the first action in office by Soludo as governor was to increase taxes paid by taxis and motorcycle riders.

So as to remain relevant both in business and politics, Prince Arthur Eze has remained friend with all the presidents in Nigeria and in 2019, he told the Igbo people to vote for Muhammadu Buhari because Buhari will handover to Engr. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State. These formed part of the reasons Engr. David Umahi defected from PDP to APC  and today, will Buhari still hand over to David Umahi? Arthur Eze is currently asking Igbos to support Atiku Abubakar because Atiku will handover to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo. Will the Igbos and Nigerians believe this deceit from him again?

Prince Arthur Eze has never supported any cause that will not be to the benefit of his business. His fear about Peter Obi is the general fear currently inherent in every person, man or woman that has been feasting  on Nigeria's treasury who believes the emergence of Peter Obi as president of Nigeria in 2023 will put a stop to it.

For you ordinary Nigerian yearning for good governance, hear me , more people like Arthur Eze will come up in the days ahead to say they don't support Peter Obi. But these are clear signs that there is trouble in the kingdom of darkness in Nigeria, a good oamen and reason we must all work to deliver Peter Obi in 2023 to free Nigeria and Nigerians from their captivity and bondage. If Zambia, Kenya, Rwanda could do it, my people, we can do it too in 2023.
