Press Statement: State Coordinating Council (SCC) of the Oyo State Obidient Movement remained intact

"We the appointed state executives of Oyo state Obidient Movement strongly refute claims that Ayo Akinyemi is leading the Obidient Movement in Oyo State. The anchor's decision to recognize him as coordinator in the recent Zoom meeting (2/7/2025) was a grave error.

We hereby clarify that Ayo Akinyemi is an impostor and does not represent the legitimate leadership of the Obidient Movement in Oyo State. After the election, his group shifted allegiance to Abure's leadership, rebranding themselves as *'LabourObidient Movement',* and stood apart from our structure. They only realigned when they saw the poster for the Southwest Conference on our joint platform, but have since struggled to fully commit.

Despite our appointed Excos' repeated invitations to meetings to synergize, they've refused to participate. Following Hon Dele Abiola's appointment to the Advisory Council and later as Oyo State Interim Coordinator, the Akinyemi-led Excos have been attempting to create a parallel structure, opposing his leadership. Notably, they're still working with Oyo LP Chairman Alh Sodiq Atayese, who openly defected/aligned with PDP in the last gubernatorial election. It is also note worthy that they worked for APC Presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu through Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

Moreover, his speech in the meeting clearly showed he's uninformed about the current state of the Obidient Movement in the state, further disqualifying him from any legitimate leadership role. We urge all members and concerned leaders to disregard his claims and any directives emanating from him."

The approved State Coordinating Council (SCC) of the Oyo State Obidient Movement remained intact.

Peter Obi — Coordinated Lawlessness, Impunity Reigns In Nigeria, Our Country Has Become Lawless

Peter Obi — Coordinated Lawlessness, Impunity Reigns In Nigeria, Our Country Has Become Lawless

Any society where lawlessness overrides the rule of law is not destined to be a haven for investors. Recent reports showing that Nigeria’s human rights indicators have worsened merely highlight severe shortfalls in government protection for civil liberties, personal security, and basic living standards. I know what I have been going through as a person in abuse of my human rights just because I contested a Presidential election which I have legitimate rights to do. So I imagine what small business owners, regular citizens, and vulnerable communities face every day. If this level of lawlessness can happen to someone with a registered company and legitimate means, what hope does the ordinary Nigerian have? This morning, my youngest brother called me frantically, informing me that a group of people had invaded his company property in Ikeja, Lagos, and were demolishing the building. He had just come in from Port Harcourt and was denied entry to the property by security men who told him the building was being pulled down. They even informed him that this demolition had started over the weekend. As a peace-loving Nigerian, he quickly started processing to go to court immediately, not knowing what must have resulted in this, as they moved fast to destroy his home without any restraint. I rushed to Lagos from Abuja after the call this morning and headed straight to the property. On arrival, I was met by security people who tried to bar me from entering the property. I humbly pleaded with them that the property belonged to my brother’s company, and from the records, the company had owned the property for over a decade. They told me they had a court judgment, and I immediately requested it. You would not believe that the court judgment they claim was issued against an unknown person, and squatters. I went further to ask about a demolition order or permit, and there was none. How do you sue an unknown person? How does a court issue a judgment in such a farce of a case? No one was served. No name was written. Yet they showed up with excavators and began destroying a structure that had stood for over 15 years. I immediately asked the excavators for the person who had sent them, and they said they didn’t know anyone, but they were only informed to come and demolish the house. I immediately told them to tell whoever it is that I would like to speak with them, if they can call my number, which I shared with the excavators, so that I can speak with whomever gave them the order to demolish the property. I stood there from 10am to 2pm, waiting to get a call at least and nobody called or came. The contractor even said he didn’t know who sent him. Two men later came and said they would like us to go to a police station. I asked if they even had a demolition order but they had nothing. The whole situation screamed of coordinated lawlessness and impunity. Our country has become lawless. I just started reminiscing about how just over the weekend, I had a meeting when someone told me how he has investments in Ghana, Senegal, and the Benin Republic, but won’t touch Nigeria despite his market being here. I asked him why. His answer was piercing: “Nigeria is a lawless country. Until we have laws that protect people, nobody will invest in Nigeria.” I am just shocked. How did Nigeria get to this level of lawlessness? What kind of country are we trying to build when the rights of citizens, their lives, their properties, and their voices are trampled upon daily? I remain committed to a better Nigeria where lawlessness will be a thing of the past, protection of life and property, respect for human rights, care for the less privileged, and basic education for all children. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

SOUN OF OGBOMOSHO LAND COMMISSIONS 5-STAR HOTEL, INNOVATION HUB , SAYS THIS JUST THE BEGINNING

SOUN OF OGBOMOSHO LAND COMMISSIONS 5-STAR HOTEL, INNOVATION HUB , SAYS THIS JUST THE BEGINNING

Femi OGUNLANA

The vision to transform Ogbomoso into a model city receives further boost Saturday as two hubs of economic activities were proudly commissioned in the city by the Soun, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III.

The two centres, the Dreamz Suites & Hotels and Ennovate Lab, are both situated along old Ilorin road.

Commissioning the hotel located at a prime area in Aroje, the Soun enthused it was the beginning of great, amazing things to come to Ogbomoso. He said the project which began before his enthronement was almost abandoned but that his efforts in canvassing Ogbomoso people in the diaspora to return home to establish businesses revived the interest of the US-based owner, Mr. Olufemi Leke, assuring the gateway of developments is being opened and will lead to the desired transformation.

“I am happy to be here,” Oba Olaoye had stated. “This is dream come true. We first met in New York some years ago and he shared this dream but he was not enthusiastic again so to say. But l told him l would be Oba and l would commission the hotel. That gave the needed spark to completing the project.

“I believe this is the beginning of several things that will happen in Ogbomoso. We are just starting, more amazing things will come up in this town.”

He now told the hotel CEO, “You are an inspiration, l can tell you l am impressed.”

The traditional ruler, a businessman himself, advised the hotelier to maintain high standards, have zero tolerance for fraudulent staff and to try as much as possible to make transactions cashless to reduce sharp practices. He however urged him to pay his staff well and learn to compensate them.

“Maintain high standard, have zero tolerance for fraudulent practices, make transactions as cashless as possible and pay your workers well. Compensate diligence, let them feel the impact of the business doing well. Engage them, don’t do master-servant relationship but relate with them with honours. Maintaining standards is a difficult thing but it is not an impossible thing,” Oba Olaoye said.

The hotelier, Mr. Femi Leke, thanking the Oba, said he had been impressed by Oba Olaoye since the first time he got introduced to him in New York, USA, informing many Ogbomoso indigenes in the diaspora have bought into the idea of investing at home. “I can tell you we have a whole army coming over. That is what we in the diaspora discuss nowadays,” he confidently stated.

Writing on the event later the Soun in a social media post stated, “This morning, I was filled with joy as I and my entourage was at the grand opening of Dreamz Suites & Hotel in Ogbomoso.

“What makes this moment special is not just the beauty of the structure, but the heart behind it. I met the visionary behind the hotel in New York while sharing my 25-year developmental blueprint for Ogbomosoland — and he caught the vision. He wasn’t just inspired to build a hotel… he was moved to build excellence.

“Today, I saw excellence. I was deeply impressed by the standard — it speaks of the Ogbomoso we are building together: world-class, forward-thinking, and rooted in values.

“This is just the beginning of what’s coming to Ogbomosoland. We are attracting visionaries, builders, and doers. Ogbomoso is rising — and everyone who aligns with purpose, discipline, and excellence will rise with it.”

Also speaking at the commissioning of the Ennovate Lab located at the former Coca cola depot near LAUTECH, the Soun assured the founders, “We will support your vision.” He reiterated more “amazing things” are coming to the town.

Ennovate lab, founded in November 2017 by four friends, Jesudamilare Adesegun-David, Chima Omike, Pelumi Igunnubolei and Ijeoma Nwawka, is an innovation hub that seeks to promote innovation and enterprise thinking and success in underserved university communities, according to information gleaned from its website.

It further states, “Our vision is captured within these three prongs: Innovation Hub, Startup Foundry and Seed Fund.

“As an innovation hub, we are committed to building resilient innovation ecosystems in underserved university communities. As a startup foundry, we build borderless solutions for communities by communities and as a seed fund, we reach beyond our portcos to become the first to write cheques for promising startups in our host communities.”

This is as it stresses, “Our goal is to decentralize and democratize access to opportunity and resources in underserved communities by leveraging assets within those communities especially their human capital and the presence of university institutions.”

It will promote such values as creativity, empathy, camaraderie, integrity, inclusiveness and grit.

Volunteers, developers, storytellers, creative designers, urban agriculturist, online community managers, social media managers, content creators are part of the centre’s human resources and it has hubs in the US, UK and some other Western countries.

A representative of the organisation challenged Ogbomoso people to “keep this movement going in Ogbomoso. Build the community together, invest here together. By this, employment will be created in Ogbomoso, businesses will come and thrive.”

Recall that in recent times businesses are springing up in the town among which are the opening of a depot of Prestige Paints Lagos, and the inauguration of Yajifarz Foundation Cup, which is ongoing with the sponsor saying he is working on bringing his business to Ogbomoso as well. There have been other developmental projects like the plan to set up a large-hectared sweet potato farm, road constructions, establishment of a monothecnic on cultural studies and so on.

ogbomosoinsightonline.com can authoritatively state other “goodies” are on their way to the ancient town.

Call for a review of Oyo State Youth Award: I was unfairly overlooked, award given to my closest contender — Abiodun Adediran

Call for a review of Oyo State Youth Award: I was unfairly overlooked, award given to my closest contender — Abiodun Adediran

Dear Editor, Hot News Naija,

I'm Abiodun Adediran from Ogbomoso. I'm writing to highlight concerns regarding the Oyo State Youth Award, a subsection of the Oyo State Youth Summit 2025, powered by the Ministry of Youths and Sport under Hon. Wasilat Adegoke's leadership.

Despite garnering 1,509 votes (36%) in the Governance category, I was unfairly overlooked, and the award was given to my closest contender with 1,138 votes (27%) without justification.

I respectfully request that you consider publishing this matter to:

1. Expose irregularities in the award process

2. Advocate for a review of the decision

3. Support young people's rights to participate in governance and leadership

This issue affects not just me, but the broader Oyo State youth community, who deserve fair representation.

Thank you for considering my request.

Attached is the final result as at when the voting ends on the 18th of April 2025.

Sincerely,

Abiodun Adediran
