DEXTER: AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL OBIDIENTS IN OYO STATE

DEXTER: AN OPEN LETTER TO ALL OBIDIENTS IN OYO STATE

My dear brothers and sisters on the nission,

Now that the elections are behind us, I have taken time to reflect deeply on where we stand today as a movement in Oyo State. And with all sincerity, I must confess that my heart is heavy. Not because of defeat, but because of what threatens to destroy the very house we are trying to build.

Three things, if not urgently addressed, will scatter us before 2027 even arrives.

First is disunity. We are disadvantaged in numbers already, yet instead of closing ranks, we have allowed factions to grow among us. We quarrel, we slander, and we are too quick to pull each other down. My brothers and sisters, how can we win if we keep fighting ourselves?

Second is the mad rush for power and control. Too many want to lead, but very few want to serve. Yet true leadership is service, not titles, not positions, not personal empires. If our movement becomes about who controls what rather than who sacrifices most for the cause, then we are no different from the old order we are seeking to replace.

Third, and most painful, is the spirit of profiteering that has crept in. Some among us seem more interested in money than in the mission. When meetings are dominated by “who gets what” instead of “how do we build,” when funds meant for the struggle become the subject of endless quarrels, how then do we claim to be different from those we condemn?

I speak these words not to condemn, but to call us back to the path of truth. I must also pause here to offer a sincere apology. In the heat of the smear campaign launched against me, I reacted harshly at times. That was wrong. I take responsibility for those outbursts. As a leader, my duty is not to retaliate but to reconcile. One thing that the event has shown though is the depth of the ills I have highlighted above which I sincerely did not know about before now.

And so, I make this pledge to you today: my priority going forward is to unite this movement in Oyo State. I have reached out to other elders even those who are older and more experienced than me to also join hands with me in this regards, so that together we can heal these wounds. My office will also begin to contact every faction, every camp, every group. Because if we truly love our principal, His Excellency Peter Obi, then we must come together not as rivals, but as one family.

My beloved Obidients, the 2027 journey is not far. The old order is counting on us to destroy ourselves before we even get to the battlefield. We cannot let them win that way. Let us prove to them, and to the world, that we are different. That we are a people who can put ego aside, silence greed, and embrace one another for the sake of the greater good.

Let history record that the Obidient Movement in Oyo State chose unity over division, service over ambition, sacrifice over selfish gain. For only then can we truly deliver the new Nigeria we all dream of.

I extend my hand to every one of you, regardless of past disagreements. Let us begin again, in peace, in humility, in love.

With deep respect, hope and commitment,

*Dr. Femi Dexter Akin-Alamu*

I sincerely thank everyone for the outpouring of goodwill and birthday wishes — Peter Obi

I sincerely thank everyone for the outpouring of goodwill and birthday wishes — Peter Obi

Obi

 Thank You All

From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank everyone for the outpouring of goodwill and birthday wishes I received worldwide. I remain deeply grateful to all who marked the day in one way or another, not to mention Nigerian youths, the Obidient family and the members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, renowned for their apostolate to the poor.

As for me, while I deeply appreciate the gestures of celebration, I must once again reiterate that I do not personally celebrate birthdays. I recall vividly when I turned 50, during my time as Governor. Many institutions and individuals approached me with elaborate plans for the occasion.

One institution generously offered to build a house for me in the village. When I asked for the estimated cost, they said it would be ₦120 million. I humbly requested that the funds be redirected to build classrooms in three educational institutions at Agulu, Ekwulobia and Abatete. They obliged—and the impact was far-reaching.

Another group had budgeted ₦20 million for a lavish party. I graciously asked them to consider using the funds to purchase desktop computers for schools. Their eventual donation of 200 desktops was distributed to schools across the state, enhancing learning for many students.

In a similar spirit of redirection, another organisation—whose intention had originally been to celebrate me—ended up donating buses, which we distributed to institutions in need, including one that went to the legendary Old Rangers Association.

This has been my consistent approach over the years. On each birthday, I use the opportunity to redirect goodwill towards causes that uplift others.

As I turned 64 years old yesterday, I must confess that the current state of our nation makes the idea of personal merriment even more difficult to contemplate. The scale of suffering and deprivation among our people weighs heavily on the conscience. This is why I have once again requested that all those who wish to celebrate me should instead channel their resources towards helping the poor or supporting our struggling health and educational institutions.

On my part, I have chosen this day to renew my personal commitment to continue supporting the institutions of state in the best way I can, especially those that directly serve the people.

Providentially, I was in Rome, at the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs, and my birthday coincided with this visit. I used this sacred opportunity, as I always do when I am in Nigeria, to remember you all in prayer. I especially prayed for our beloved country, Nigeria—that God may touch the hearts of our leaders, and awaken in them the realisation that public funds are meant for the public good.

May we all find strength and grace to keep striving for a more just, compassionate, and equitable society.

Thank you, once again. -PO

ADC COALITION: Nobody has discussed being Atiku’s running mate with me, “I am going to run for president,” Obi

Obi Confirms Presidential Bid, Rules Out Running Mate Option

Peter Obi

The Symbol of Obidient Movement worldwide H E Peter Obi who is also a key figure in the ADC coalition, has announced his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election and not running mate to anyone.

Peter Obi while on live interview program on Channels emphasized that he will not consider a running mate position, instead focusing on becoming the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, expressing confidence in his qualifications for the presidency, reaffirming his commitment to leading the Country .

“Seun, I don’t believe in assumptions. I am part of the Coalition that will produce a competent president with the capacity & the compassion to save this country.”

"I have never worked for any government before I became governor.

I did not work for Abacha, I have never met him. We only reported issues about the port and we were asked to decongest the ports.

Everything lasted about 2 weeks"

"Working with ADC coalition not anti-party"

“We at the ADC coalition have all agreed to work together ahead of the 2027 election".

"Nobody has discussed being Atiku’s running mate with me, he adds. “I am going to run for president,” Obi said".

Seun Okinbalonye: Considering your reputation, don’t you think it’s contradictory for you to want to work with those who Nigerians believe failed when they were in govt?”

Peter Obi: Seun, to make progress, you need the experience of those who have failed and those who succeeded.

Today we have a country without compassion. In December 18 several children died in Ibadan, On 19 Tinubu flew to Lagos for Christmas holiday, I will not do that, I will go to Ibadan & lool for their parents & cry with them.

We will use all lawful means to remove Tinubu come 2027.

Seun: If you become president, will you release Nnamdi Kanu?

Peter Obi:

Honestly, Seun, I still don’t know the exact reason why Nnamdi Kanu was arrested and has been detained till now. I’ve tried to find out what offense he committed, but I haven’t seen anything specific. Some say it’s because of the strong language he uses. Seun, go and check what he has said about me—he has called me all sorts of names and accused me of many things. But that doesn’t bother me, because I know those things don’t reflect who I truly am. So, I don’t take them personally. That’s why I find it difficult to understand the reason for his arrest, let alone why he’s still being held after all this time.

Press Statement: State Coordinating Council (SCC) of the Oyo State Obidient Movement remained intact

"We the appointed state executives of Oyo state Obidient Movement strongly refute claims that Ayo Akinyemi is leading the Obidient Movement in Oyo State. The anchor's decision to recognize him as coordinator in the recent Zoom meeting (2/7/2025) was a grave error.

We hereby clarify that Ayo Akinyemi is an impostor and does not represent the legitimate leadership of the Obidient Movement in Oyo State. After the election, his group shifted allegiance to Abure's leadership, rebranding themselves as *'LabourObidient Movement',* and stood apart from our structure. They only realigned when they saw the poster for the Southwest Conference on our joint platform, but have since struggled to fully commit.

Despite our appointed Excos' repeated invitations to meetings to synergize, they've refused to participate. Following Hon Dele Abiola's appointment to the Advisory Council and later as Oyo State Interim Coordinator, the Akinyemi-led Excos have been attempting to create a parallel structure, opposing his leadership. Notably, they're still working with Oyo LP Chairman Alh Sodiq Atayese, who openly defected/aligned with PDP in the last gubernatorial election. It is also note worthy that they worked for APC Presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu through Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.

Moreover, his speech in the meeting clearly showed he's uninformed about the current state of the Obidient Movement in the state, further disqualifying him from any legitimate leadership role. We urge all members and concerned leaders to disregard his claims and any directives emanating from him."

The approved State Coordinating Council (SCC) of the Oyo State Obidient Movement remained intact.

Oyo State Obidient Movement: Imposition of leadership through back door cannot stand, Tanko, Showunmi should tread with care — Sir Dele Abiola

Neither Hon seyi Showunmi who is the current South West Coirdunator nor Dr Yunusa Tanko are from Oyo State nor have they contested, nor will they contest for any elective positions in Oyo State. Imposing Agents of Barrister Julius Abure and Sodiq Olatunji through any back door in the Oyo State Obidient Movement can not work.

We in Oyo State Obidient Movement are the ones who faced and experienced the evils of their betrayals and sell out before, during and After the 2023 elections in Oyo State. The reports to this effects is with Seyi Sowunmu

The same set of people Dr. Yunusa Tanko and Seyi Sowunmu are trying to install again did the same in manoeuvering those who were in charge of the movement preior 2023 elections where they sold out.

H.E peter Obi can not claimed to be unaware of the betrayals of both the Labour party leadership and LP Obidient Movement leadership in Oyo State.

Our positions in Oyo State Obidient Movement are simply, Going forward to 2027 elections :

1. Those who are in charge of the movement perior 2023 elections can no longer lead us

2. The structures we are revamping can not be placed under anyone of them

3. The stressful efforts without results like 2023 outing with the same set of people can't be tried again

4. Anyone that has nothing at stake to loose can't be allowed to lead Oyo State Obidient Movement going forward to 2023. The Jeje -Ayo Akinyemi group have nothing to loose but only to gain as they traded the movement fir personal gains in 2023.

5. They were not the ones original in charged of the movement in 2023, but through blackmails and support of the Party chairman took over the movement and only reaped from the efforts of others With RESULTS.

6. That Neither Tanko nor Sowunmu can imposed any leadership on OYO OBIDIENT MOVEMENT.

7. That the recommended and Approved names of the Oyo State Coordinating Council remained Valid and authentic leadership to be reckoned with.

Coalitions: "If elected flag bearer, I will serve one term return power to North in 2031" Says Peter Obi

I’ll build a Nigeria where opposition has peace, not war

The Obidient Movement's Symbol H E Peter Obi has during a social media interactions with Obidient members on X Space (Twitter) has said if he is elected flag bearer of the currently ongoing coalitions, he will serve for only one term and then return power to North in 2031.

Questions to Obi:

Will you work with people like ElRufai?

Obi: "I will work with all Nigerians especially those that are doing the right thing as a leader. If we see people that are not good we are to change them. A leader is not elected for only those who like him, its not a buffet, when the govt does the right thing It will impact everyone both good and bad".

Question: Will you agree if coalition make attempt to pick someone else as president?

Obi: "I dont want to preempt the coalition, it will be unfair to the others, I will sell myself fairly and let people see my track record. Coalition Is Labour party plus other party that are willing to work with us".

"Tinubu is a funny president. He has never spent a night in any place in Nigeria apart from Lagos yet going to spend a week in St Lucia that is not up to the size of Ajegunle, and their economy is not up to that of Lagos. Why not visit a country that we can emulate?

I’ll build a Nigeria where opposition has peace, not war

In a heartfelt and reflective moment during a packed XSpace session tagged #PeterObiOnParallelFacts, the former former presidential candidate responded to growing criticism about his handling of the Labour Party crisis, saying that those blaming him are ignoring a much deeper problem: the deliberate destabilisation of opposition politics by those in power.

“You’re asking me about a party where the same people breaking it are the ones running the government,” Obi said. “This is like demolishing a house and asking the neighbour why the roof fell off.”

Obi insisted that, as a former governor, he had navigated complex political crises, including impeachment, opposition-controlled legislatures, and deep party divisions, with calmness, maturity, and a commitment to democratic values.

“When I was impeached, I came back, and they said the speaker must go. I said no. We needed stability. People have a right to oppose you. That’s how you build a system that works,” he said, recalling his leadership experience in Anambra State.

Obi rebuffed allegations that the ongoing internal wrangling in the Labour Party proves he cannot manage national affairs. He said Nigeria’s political dysfunction stems not from the weakness of the opposition but from the ruling class’s intolerance and undermining of democratic processes.

“Even the President said he was happy that the opposition is in disarray. That should never be. I want a Nigeria where even the opposition enjoys peace. I’ll sit with them, consult with them, and fix the house, even if it’s not mine,” he stated.

He drew parallels with his record in Anambra, where rival parties controlled the State Assembly and Senate delegations, yet his administration saw no chaos.

“Ask PDP leaders in Anambra if I ever fought them. I worked with everyone. Even when the President came to campaign against me, I gave him an official car. I hosted them. Because leadership is about building, not fighting.”

Obi’s comments struck a chord with many online listeners who praised his tone of empathy, inclusion, and statesmanship — qualities he believes are sorely missing in today’s politics.

“In my Nigeria, we won’t spend time breaking each other. We will be busy fixing the country,” Obi concluded, reaffirming his commitment to unity, dialogue, and nation-building.

Ganduje’s Timely Challenge to Leaders: Nigeria can no longer afford leadership defined by medical tourism — Peter Obi

Ganduje’s Timely Challenge to Leaders: Nigeria can no longer afford leadership defined by medical tourism — Peter Obi

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje

The Symbol of the Obidient Movement in Nigeria H. E Peter Obi has reacted to the resignation from his chairmanship position of the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC Alhaj Abdullahi Umar Ganduje stating his health concerns.

Peter Obi who commended Dr. Ganduje for prioritising his health above all else said by his exemplary action, Dr. Ganduje has thrown a challenge to other leaders who, due to health-related issues, are no longer able to deliver optimally should take a cue from him.

According to Obi, the challenges confronting our nation today require leaders who are not only competent but also physically and mentally fit, leaders with the capacity and agility to respond decisively and promptly to pressing issues.

He said at this critical point and difficult time, Nigeria can no longer afford leadership defined by medical tourism, long holidays, or absenteeism caused by age-related ailments. These things are taking a serious toll on our development.

With his health reportedly in decline, it is both wise and honourable to step aside, knowing that he may no longer be able to render the level of service required by the party, the people, and the nation. I have just read a news report that the National Chairman of the ruling party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position with immediate effect, citing health challenges as the reason. I must commend Dr. Ganduje for prioritising his health above all else. With his health reportedly in decline, it is both wise and honourable to step aside, knowing that he may no longer be able to render the level of service required by the party, the people, and the nation. By this exemplary action, Dr. Ganduje has thrown a challenge to other leaders who, due to health-related issues, are no longer able to deliver optimally. I sincerely hope they take a cue from him. The challenges confronting our nation today require leaders who are not only competent but also physically and mentally fit, leaders with the capacity and agility to respond decisively and promptly to pressing issues. At this critical point and difficult time, we can no longer afford leadership defined by medical tourism, long holidays, or absenteeism caused by age-related ailments. These things are taking a serious toll on our development. May God Almighty grant Dr. Ganduje a peaceful and fulfilling retirement. Indeed, a new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

Peter Obi Condemns Continuous Closure Of Schools In Abuja, Says Basic Education Is Constitutional Right

Peter Obi Condemns Continuous Closure Of Schools In Abuja, Says Basic Education Is Constitutional Right

The Symbol of Obidient Movement in Nigeria H.E Peter Obi on Thursday condemned the endless closures of schools in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Peter Obi, the nightmare of the rulling All Progressive Congress APC ahead of 2027 said via his social media handle on X (Twitter) that Nigeria is not only a signatory to Millinum Development Goals (MDG) and Sustainable Development Goals which emphatically emphasised Education as a critical development yardstick, but also has as law "Universal Basic Education", which means every child should have access to quality basic education.

Obi said despite these, public primary school pupils have been out of school for over three months due to a strike in the FCT.

He said: "The most critical and immeasurable component of human development today is Education. It is a known and verifiable study that the more educated a nation is, the more developed it is. Consequently, the most important investment and Policy a nation requires is educating its people, especially children, to secure their future. "

"Nigeria was not only a signatory to Millinum Development Goals (MDG) and Sustainable Development Goals which emphatically emphasised Education as a critical development yardstick, but also has as law Universal Basic Education, which means every child should have access to quality basic education. Yet, right here in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, public primary school pupils have been out of school for over three months due to a strike. "

"When the strike began, we all thought, “This is Abuja; it will only last for a day or two.” But here we are, three months later, our children are still at home and we are busy renovating the infrastructure. "

"The foundation of societal development is educated citizenry, not physical infrastructure. True development is about building people. It is about educating the next generation. A nation that ignores its children's education is digging deeper into poverty, insecurity, and underdevelopment. "

"We must prioritise investment in human capital, especially in basic education, healthcare, and pulling people out of poverty. That is how nations grow. That is how we build the New Nigeria that is possible."  -PO said.

Killings of over 100 people in Zamfara: deaths in our country continue unabated — Peter Obi

Killings of over 100 people in Zamfara: deaths in our country continue unabated — Peter Obi

H. E Peter Obi has said the deaths in our country continue unabated as the Tinubu led APC government failed to secure lives and properties and fulfilling his oat of office he sworn to.

Obi made the remarks following the gruesome murder of over 100 people in Zamfara by the bandits, including military men, asking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to accept the inevitable truth and act decisively as Nigeria is at war and saving of lives must be prioritized over infrastructures.

"The deaths in our country continue unabated, as one reads the heartbreaking stories that have become our daily reality."

"With the brutal killings of over 100 people in Zamfara, including our revered military men, Mr. President, it is time to accept the inevitable truth and act decisively."

"Nigeria is at war. We can no longer afford the dangerous denial. The number of lives lost in Nigeria now mirrors countries at war, and the death in our own country even happens more often than in countries at war."

"We cannot continue like this. It is time to prioritise the security of lives over infrastructure projects. Governance must now become about saving lives, not cutting ribbons and headlining ceremonies on front pages."

"Every child buried, every soldier slain, every Nigerian abducted, is a loud cry that leadership must hear. The true measure of leadership is not in the number of roads built or bridges commissioned, but in how many lives are preserved, how many families sleep in peace, and how many communities thrive without fear of bandits."

"This is no longer about politics, it is about the survival of Nigerians. The soul of our nation is bleeding, and only true leadership can save our dear country."

OPINION: Sir Dele Abiola Led Interim, A Right Direction for Oyo State Obidient Movement

OPINION: Sir Dele Abiola Led Interim, A Right Direction for Oyo State Obidient Movement

*Congratulations to Hon. Dele Abiola and the entire Obidient team*

History often unfolds at the intersection of contrasting motives: where people of goodwill Labour tirelessly for the betterment of their communities, others, driven solely by pecuniary gains and personal ambition, chart a different course. This enduring truth finds resonance in our struggle today.

Hon. Dele Abiola embodies the spirit of the former. He toiled with unwavering dedication, pressing forward even when victory seemed distant and the path fraught with uncertainties. His relentless commitment stands as a testament to genuine service. .

We firmly believe this moment marks the dawn of greater success the foundation of a well structured, reliable, and fiercely loyal Obidient Movement is now laid in Oyo State. We recognize the battle ahead is not for the faint hearted. Yet, we stand strong, fortified by an unbreakable coalition of steadfast Oyo State patriots, united by the unwavering conviction that "A New Nigeria is Possible!"

The Obidient movement has constructed an enduring and unshakeable foundation. No intimidation, however fierce, can undermine its solidity. It stands resolute. To those self proclaimed leaders whose actions betray the very cause they pretend to serve know this: if you persist in your attempts to sabotage the Obidient movement, deluding yourselves into thinking you can replicate the betrayals of the past, you embark on nothing short of a futile and doomed endeavor. Your efforts are destined to fail.

Hon. Dele Abiola has earned profound respect through his principled work and will continue to do so. Likewise, *Babafemi, Aderoju, and Mayowa and many others working tirelessly With them deserve immense credit. They have been instrumental in shaping the Obidient movement and restoring its noble image through their integrity and tireless efforts. These are individuals of unquestionable character, and we pray God continues to bless and strengthen them.

The time for ambiguity is over. Within the Obidient movement, there is no middle ground. Either you stand with us, contributing your honest Labour to our shared vision, or you stand against us. This vehicle of change is already in motion, advancing steadily towards its destination. To those who choose otherwise: step aside. Your obstruction is futile." Thank you
