Tinubu's INEC: The prospects and challenges of a free, fair and credible elections in 2027

Tinubu's INEC: The prospects and challenges of a free, fair and credible elections in 2027

 Bola Tinubu and
His INEC Chairman

Elections are a central feature of representatives democracies. For elections to express the will of the electorate, they must be ‘free, fair’ and 'credible'.

Free, fair and credible elections are largely determined by the electoral body. Nigeria's independent National Electoral Commission INEC under Professor Mahmood Yakub or anyone as may be later appointed and their subordinates are the major bane and barriers to credible and acceptable elections in Nigeria. While the INEC neutrality is questionable, judiciary has long seized to be the last hope of anybody but a place of judicial trades for the very few with highest influence and highest bidders. The Nigeria's Judicial Service Commission has sanctioned in the past judges handling Election Petition Tribunals but not now any longer with the level of unhindered immunities in the temples of justice. So an unbiased electoral system and body for a free, fair and credible elections are non negotiable.

‘Free’ means that all those entitled to vote have the right to be registered and to vote and must be free to make their choice. According to our constitution, every citizen over the age of 18 is entitled to vote.

Also an election will be considered ‘free’ if you are allowed to decide whether or not to vote and vote freely for the candidate or party of your choice without fear or intimidation and or harassment. A ‘free’ election can also be regarded as where you are confident that who you vote for remains your secret.

By ‘Fair’, it means that all registered political parties have an equal right to contest the elections on the same level ground, campaign for voters support and hold meetings and rallies. This gives them a fair chance to convince voters to vote for them.

A fair election also denote an election in which all voters have an equal opportunity to register, where all votes are counted, and where the final results reflect the actual vote totals.

"Credible" implies an open and transparent process especially by the electoral umpire which will make the actual outcome capable of being believed by the more than simple majority of the citizens.

By credible, it also means the outcome of the the whole process is worthy of the citizens' confidence. The results are reliable and not manipulated. The level of genuine neutrality of the electoral commission dictates the credibility of any election.

Therefore, It's one thing for the election to be free and fair on the filed on election day across polling units, it's another thing entirely for the electoral umpire to admit and allow votes of the people to actually be the final outcome or results. The credibility of an election will make it even more acceptable to the losers and runner up without unnecessary litigations that usually accompany every election in Nigeria.

With the exception of the 1959 and the annulled June 12 1993 general elections, elections in Nigeria have always been marred by irregularities and lack of transparency from electoral body, collusion with either ruling or opposition party for manipulation of the election's outcome, implementing an electoral process with procedures that encourages violence and anarchy . The 1964/65 Western Regional and National elections, the 1979 and 1983 federal election, the 2003 and 2007 presidential and governorship elections were elections that encouraged anarchy as they were generally adjudged far below free, fair and lacked in any measure for credibility test, basically because of INEC collisions with either any of the contending major parties leading to endless litigations in each cases.

Meanwhile, aside the 2015 general elections which can simply be categorised and termed as a mob elections, the 2019 and 2023 general elections overtly revealed that those who voted had done nothing but those who counted and determined the votes are the ones that occupied the Central Processing Unit of the electoral and democratic system as it were very glaring for all to see in those elections.

Despite improved electoral laws and introductions of e-voting machine , B-Vas, there were overt indications of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) been bias, non transparent most especially with uses of even B-Vas, alterations of the election results both on B-Vas and on form EC8, inconclusive elections as a result of materials not timely taken to the polling units on election day.
Collusions with rejected APC national leader Tinubu to upturned the people's will, as Tinubu who paid their pipers dictated their tune in a supposedly general election meant for majority of the citizens to decide on who governs us for a period of four years. Remarks by incumbent president himself that he bought his way to the presidency also confirmed all these.

Coming to term with the individuals occupying various positions within the electoral umpire such as INEC chairman, INEC commissioner among others, the appointments to these positions are political appointments. This is exactly where and reason the credibility of the electoral outcomes are been compromised and sacrificed in Nigeria. Funny enough is that all those that have been appointed and served as INEC chairman are all university professors who have pleasures in subverting the will of the majority for their personal aggrandizements.

The appointment of the incumbent INEC chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu was said to have been influenced back the in 2018 by Bola Ahmed Tinubu and as a result, against all odds INEC chairman decided the outcome of 2019 presidential election in favour of Major General Muhammadu Buhari who had lost all credibilities to win the Said election considering the level of hungers, compounding existing Boko Haram with bandit and Fulani herdsmen menace amidst human rights violations, lack of respect for rule of law, etc. To simply put it, 'the CIA agent Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been in charged, remotiing and controlling INEC before ever becoming the President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The prospects of any free, fair and credible elections under him as the sitting president looks very invincible.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu ensured Buhari was re-elected through his puppet INEC chairman Mahmood Yakub in a grand calculation for his 2023 presidential ambition which saw him and his gangs unleashing all forms of deceits, manipulations and impersonation at the highest order including impersonating the clergymen.

The prospects and chances of having a free, fair and credible elections comes 2027 under the Tinubu led APC anti- people government and an INEC that takes orders directly from him will be absolutely impossible.

On the state of the political parties in Nigeria currently, just like the late military Totalitarian dictator General Sani Abacha was to emerged the sole presidential candidate of the all political parties formedy perior his sudden death in 1998, Tinubu and his Mafia camp have been earnestly working to undermine and subvert the democratic processes, moving the country towards a one party system.

The Tinubu and his Mafias who are in APC and in his government are also directly and indirectly dictating the fates of other political parties as PDP is in their hands too, while the same INEC has been the weapon of distabilisation in Tinubu's hands holding Labour Party (LP) down ineffectively immediately after the 2023 general elections just as was the case with Omoyele Sowore led African Action AAC after 2019 general elections. For the LP, INEC that refused to accept the kangaroo National Convention that returned Barrister Julius Abure as the National Chairman has also refused to upload the names of the Senator Nenadi Esther Usman led National Caretaker Committee of the party even after a Supreme Court judgement sacked else while Chairman Abure. For months now, INEC is still studying the court judgement.

Suffix to this is the fact that this same INEC has made the registration of new party nearly impossible. Even the Social Democratic Party SDP that some aggrieved politicians and citizens seemly running to can't be adjudged clear of Tinubu's influence. He was to contest the 2023 presidential election in the SDP platform if APC had denied him the presidential ticket.

Off season elections conducted so far in Edo, Ondo are another testaments of systemic disruption of oppositions in favour of the ruling party. These are the litmus tests if what to expect in 2027.

Removing the bias, unfair and non neutral Professor Mahmood Yakub by Mr President, to nominate another of his stoogees for the National Assembly to rubber stamped again may not help going forward to 2027 as the entire citizens of voting ages are on the verge of been manipulated and shortchanged again.

An electoral reform by the National Assembly that ensure that the sitting president does not nominate top INEC officers may go a long way to reduce underground and unconstitutional interference in the activities of the umpire.

Conclusively, as our forefathers at independence opted for a democratic and egalitarian society, it's the duties of all of us to mobilize, sensitize citizens on the needs for a credible, free and fair elections. We must continue to speak and stand against Intimidations and brazen harassment of voters as openly seen in 2023 presidential and national assembly elections and most especially the governorship elections in some states and Lagos, Rivers, Kogi in particular.

The essential of governance is to serve the people. Maximum pleasure for greater numbers of people but in the case of Nigeria and her citizens, it has been maximum pains for an absolute majority while the very few and less than minority including the incumbent President are living large in frivolous and lavish spending as seen in their budgetary allocations to themselves. Students loans already cornered. Hunger ruling without mercy, no end in sight to criminalities, terrorism , banditary, Fulani herdsmen menace and kidnapping for ransoms

Nigerians should know that they want to contend and contest not only against brutal Tinubu led APC that believed in antidemocratic highjacking and run with it principles but also against the Tinubu's INEC that will be ready to hand him a certificate of return even if he failed to contest in the forth coming 2027 general elections.

Infact, as far as 2027 is approaching, factor that can ensure free, fair and credible elections will be an unwavering determinations by Nigerians to enforce it at the polling units level against the ruling party, INEC and institutions and agencies of state or the readiness to go the Malian way or Burkina way in another hand if the need be for a democratic reset.

Nigerians should rather win the 2027 elections at the polling units or loss it forever.

Sowore OMOYELE TO BE CHARGED FOR CYBERCRIME TODAY FOR CALLING PRESIDENT TINUBU’S HANDPICKED POLICE IGP, KAYODE EGBETOKUN “ILLEGAL IGP”

Sowore OMOYELE TO BE CHARGED FOR CYBERCRIME TODAY FOR CALLING PRESIDENT TINUBU’S HANDPICKED POLICE IGP, KAYODE EGBETOKUN “ILLEGAL IGP”

The human rights activist and leader of African Action Congress Omoyele Sowore will this morning charged to court by the Nigeria's law enforcement agent Police Force.

This is another stage after Sowore and his lawyer Femi Falana rejected the police's bail conditions.

According to Omoyele Sowore, these are arguably the most frivolous charges ever filed by Nigerian law enforcement agents. Yele Sowore will be charged for referring to retired and tired IGP Kayode Egbetokun of the Nigeria Police Force as an “Illegal IGP.” Regrettably, Nigeria, whose reputation was initially tarnished, is now beyond redemption!  #RevolutionNow

@yelesho claimed IG of Nigeria @npf_nigeriapoliceforce , KAYODE Egbetokun, was illegal and incompetent, then he (Egbetokun) quickly moved to court to file charges for cybercrime, with incorrect spellings of Sowore’s 1st name OMOLEYE (instead of Omoyele) and wrong spelling of “incite”. SOWORE has opted to stay in police custody until their silly joke is over

SOWORE has opted to stay in police custody until their silly joke is over

Omoyele Sowore has reported rejected the ridiculous bail conditions presented to him by the Nigeria Police Force.
The AAC leader was asked to submit his international passport and present a level 17 Permanent Secretary , instead Sowore has ooffered to remain in police custody pending when the joke is over.

Sowore later wrote: UPDATE: The PoliceNG team assigned to my case has informed me that the DIG of FID, Dasuki Galandachi, has reevaluated my bail conditions, necessitating the production of a level 16 civil servant and the surrender of my international passport, a condition I have declined outright.

I refuse to participate in any arrangement that undermines my personal integrity.

Below is also the response of my lawyer, Femi Falana SAN to the ridiculous request of the Nigeria Police.

Dear Hon DIG,

Thanks for reducing the bail condition of Mr. Omoyele Sowore to a surety of level 16.

However, i wish to point out that such bail condition has been declared illegal by the Court of Appeal in the case of Dasuki V. Director-General, S.S.S. [2020]10 NWLR PT.1731 PG. 136-143 where Adah JCA (now JSC) held as follows:

"Let me quickly say that of concern it is to us that as a court we must be ready and sensitive enough not to allow or do anything that will run foul of the law. The issue of involving civil servants or Public Officers in the Public Service of the Federation and the State in bail of people accused of criminal offences has never been the practice in Nigeria or any part of the civilized world. It was an oversight on our part to allow it in. Our Civil and Public Service Rules do not have any room for it. Expecting a Level 16 Servant to own property worth N100,000,000, will be running counter to the Public Service Rules and by extension the war against corruption. It is in this respect that I will act ex debito justitiae to ensure that the aspect of involving serving Public Servant below the status of Level 16 Officer in either the state or Public Service of the Federation or any of its agencies be removed and I so order.”

Our fight for justice will persist, Sowore tells the Nigerian Police Force

The human rights activist and AAC presidential flag bearer the 2019 and 2023 general elections has informed a team of the Nigerian Police officers that fight for justice will persist this year.

Honoring an invitation extended to my by the force headquarters in Abuja, Sowore said he is prepared to face any consequences as he made it clear to the team that the matter revolves around his publicly stated view that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who is due for retirement and clearly tired, had his tenure extended illegally.

He said: ' I maintain that we are entering a promising year, and our fight for justice will persist."

I have recently completed an engagement with a team from the Nigeria Police Force at the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja, which they referred to as an “interview”.

According to Omoyele Sowore: The police relied on a rehashed set of information sourced mostly  from the internet. When I asked them to identify the location of the alleged “crime” in Lagos, they provided a vague response, stating it was along the airport road.

I chose not to provide a written statement, as we informed the Police team that, in the absence of a defined crime, the process to determine such was unnecessary.

They took a break and later informed me that they were awaiting instructions from their superiors. It seems their plan is to detain me and take me to Lagos for a kangaroo trial.

However, I am prepared to face any consequences. I made it clear to the team that the matter revolves around my publicly stated view that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who is due for retirement and clearly tired, had his tenure extended illegally. PRESS STATEMENT: KUNLE AJAYI, ONDO AAC GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE, COMMENDS THE SUPREME COURT ON THE AFFIRMATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTONOMY

PRESS STATEMENT: KUNLE AJAYI, ONDO AAC GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE, COMMENDS THE SUPREME COURT ON THE AFFIRMATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUTONOMY

KUNLE AJAYI

The Gubernatorial Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the November 16th Ondo State Elections, Kunle 'Wizeman' Ajayi commends the Supreme Court for it's affirmation of Local Government Autonomy.

In it's lead judgement read by Justice Emmanuel Agim, the apex court observed that the refusal of state government on financial autonomy for local governments has gone on for over two decades.

The Supreme Court also said Local governments has since stopped receiving the money meant for them from the state governors who act in their stead. The supreme court therefore ordered that the 774 local government councils in the country should manage their funds themselves.

This is also a great victory for the National Association of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and workers generally in Nigeria as their long fights has now come to success.

The AAC candidate believes that Local Government is the closest to the people and should be the centre point of development. Sadly, governors have been usurping this for primitive accumulation of wealth and power. So, the position of the Supreme Court will engender democracy and help more Nigerians to hold their Leaders accountable.

This judgement is also a great loss to Lucky Aiyedatiwa and other governors who had gone to court to battle against Local Government Autonomy. We warned them that the truth will prevail. These governors hate democracy and believe that Nigerians must be exploited more in order to satisfy their greed. Now, they have lost woefully!

We call on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to dissolve Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) immediately. The agency is more or less a section of the ruling party and it's quite anti-democratic!

We remember with nostalgia how our party, the African Action Congress (AAC) was robbed in the last Ondo State Local Government Elections in 2020. And we are happy that we protested this in a long and well detailed petition, but sadly, the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu never constituted the Elections Tribunal to look into our grievances. Such is the tyrannical methods governors use in hoodwinking democracy from below.

Finally, the African Action Congress (AAC) urge INEC to immediately meet with all Local Government stakeholders and draw a timetable for a uniform Local Government Elections nationwide. We will continue to push for real democracy even when rogue forces are so reluctant to give up!

Signed,

Abiodun Lijofi,

Spokesperson,

Ajayi/Dada IrapadaOndo Gubernatorial Campaign Committee.

KUNLE AJAYI — ON THE DISTRESSING YEARS OF OCEAN SURGE AT AYETORO, OUR LEGENDARY ILAJE LONDON, TIME TO RESCUE A NATIONAL MONUMENT!

(Press statement of the Kunle Ajayi, African Action Congress (AAC) Gubernatorial Candidate in Ondo2024)

Just about two days after I tweeted on X about the issues of ocean surge and the systemic destruction of Ayetoro in Ilaje due to Oil Explorations and Climate Change, the whole Ayetoro community, in Ilaje local government Area of Ondo state have staged a protest and called on the federal and the state government to save their souls and rescue the community. This protest was yesterday, May 29th.

Ayetoro Community protested over the long neglect by both the Federal and State government for the past two decades. This is despite the “6.5billion shoreline project award by NDDC" which is yet executed after 16 years!

Over 700 houses destroyed. Students can no longer go to school, while the enviable Community-owned factories are washed off. There is no shoreline protection neither is there a Marine plan by former Governments.

Many do no understand the significance of Ayetoro as a Communalist Town self-built by the people. It is a special experimented town of how best to build on the ocean. Ayetoro used to be proudly called the London of Ilaje, with it's spectacular Egalitarian self-government. But sadly today, Ayetoro is getting extinct.

What is happening to Ayetoro is a parable to the whole of the Riverine Areas of Ondo state. This is why our party has adapted the great Amsterdam Plans to build a great chain of cities and towns all across Ilaje to Apoi to Arogbo with a well-mapped out rail/road Marine Transport way that will help to pave way for specially built Smart towns and cities that would be climate-fortified.

Our party's approach to rebuilding Ayetoro and indeed the whole of Ondo Riverside will be proactive and explorative of great foresights over astonishments. Amsterdam is a city on water, yet, is one of the smartest and most artfully built globally with special use of Green Economy.

To our Ayetoro people, I commend us for taking mass actions, and we must be consistent with this. These rulers will only come out to make fake promises like they have always been doing, just for the press and votes. Sadly, two former Deputy Governors under the Late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu did nothing to help the plights of Ayetoro and the whole Ondo South. Even in electricity, they have been grossly irresponsible. In fact, Agboola Ajayi's hometown, our beloved Kiribo, has never experienced electricity before. And Lucky Aiyedatiwa is a part and parcel of the old Akeredolu/NDDC fruitless promises to save Ayetoro. It's sad that nothing good can come from the Jerusalem of these anti-developmental elements anymore.

But Ayetoro, succour is coming. #IrapadaOndo has promised a concise and emergent action once we win the race to Alagbaka. Before this, we will keep standing in solidarity with not only Ayetoro, but all of the Ondo State people in pains and penuries.

I therefore use this opportunity on the Ondo State government and the Federal Ministry of Environment, Marine Economy and other agencies like NDDC and OSOPADEC to rise to their duties and declare a state of emergency on Ayetoro and other Niger Delta towns and villages currently ravaged by climate change as a result of the indiscriminate oil explorations. We will mobilize our party members, and supporters to join in active solidarity the Protests by the great Ayetoro community, as we urge the whole of the people of Ilaje, Ikale, Arogbo, and Apoi to unite and defend the rights of the Ayetoro people to good and comfortable living. While we are doing this, we are also helping our own collective future!

Ondo Gov Poll: I have experience in societal building than Aiyedayiwa, Agboola says AAC Gubanatorial candidate Adekunle Ajayi

The Governorship candidate of African Action Congress AAC in Ondo state Adekunle Ajayi Wizeman has said he has experience in societal building and love of the people at heart than the incumbent and sitting Governor Lucky Aiyedayiwa and else while deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi.

In his words: " When you talk of the real experience of societal building, I have same more than both Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Agboola Ajayi. No be mouth! "

"I barely know Lucky in the socio-political space until he was nominated as Deputy Governor. Heard he was an NDDC appointee, but no one can say he made any mark. And since he has been Governor, nothing tangible has changed. He keeps being and accomplice and in the shadows of Akeredolu's anti-people mal-governance."

"As for Agboola Ajayi, I am too familiar with him as one of those reactionaries exposed to decivilize Ondo cherished politics, by Late Uncle Segun Agagu. Agagu had a knack for ruthless politics, and it was under him that many violent conservative agents were infused into the politics, not minding the few signages of thuggery under Late Ade Adefarati. And even when Agboola Ajayi had been LG Chair; House of Representatives Member; and Deputy Governor, his hometown Kiribo is an imagery of the so-called experience he claims to have. When we were so concerned and led struggles to get Electricity back to Ondo South, Agboola was busy using police and military to arrest, and attack us. Till date, all thanks to Agboola Ajayi, Rotimi Akeredolu, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa, there is no electricity in major parts of Ondo South. The experience of personal pocket and impunity, other than of societal growth and development. "

"Our own experience is the dedication to true changing of society, and the indepth understanding of the political economy of collective growth and development. Without being in government, we have impacted society farther than these marauders! "

"We are set Ondo State, it's time..!!

The Struggle Continues: Sowore Departs for USA after Five Years

The Struggle Continues: Sowore Departs for USA after Five Years

Sowore

Later today I will be returning to the US after almost five years of my unlawful, unjust and inhuman detention by the corrupt Nigerian political system since August 2019. Omoyele Sowore said as he is set to leave the country.

In his words: 'I was arrested, assaulted, tortured and detained for demanding that Nigerians deserved a nation that they can truly call their own. I was charged with treason - and after 5 years the APC government was forced to withdraw its trumped up charges against me."

"If the government thought that keeping me detained, and later restricting my movement would break my spirit, and cause me to renounce my commitment to fighting for the downtrodden Nigerian people, they are mistaken. "

"In the last five years, I have been denied the ability to visit my family, missing out on precious moments with my darling wife and wonderful children. I lost my brother to gunmen on Nigeria’s roads. My mother’s health deteriorated, due to the emotional toll of the government’s unrelenting assault on my person. My associates have faced arrest, and some imprisonment. "

"I stand today to declare that I am unbowed. My commitment to Nigeria is unshakable. My resolve to continue to fight for the betterment of the Nigerian nation and to demand accountability from her leaders will never be compromised. "

"Everything we said five years ago about the need for a radical restructuring of the Nigerian nation and the need for a revolution in our approach to politics and governance has come to pass. Corruption remains high and Nigerians are worse off today than they were five years ago. Inflation is making it difficult for people to put food on the table. Nigeria’s currency has been devalued by almost 100%. "

'I am under no illusions about what the future holds. I commuted myself to the mission of helping to create a Nigeria that fulfills its promise and realizes its potential, over 30 years ago. I have suffered greatly for that commitment. My family, colleagues, and associates who have stood by me throughout this journey have endured great pain and privations as well. "

Sowore further said: "For those who wonder what my next steps will be - I say this: I believe now, as I did over 30 years ago when I began this journey, that the vision of creating a just and egalitarian society must be established during my lifetime. "

"My trip today to reunite with my children and courageous and supportive wife is only for a short while. I will return to Nigeria to continue my struggle for the total liberation of our people from the shackles of the current corrupt, self serving political class. I will also be returning to face headlong, the remaining truckload of bogus criminal and civil cases that have been thrown at me since my detention in 2019."

'Let me use this opportunity to thank my family, lawyers particularly Femi Falana SAN, colleagues, and fellow revolutionaries at home and abroad who have stood firmly by my side, against all odds. "

The socio political and human rights activist optimistically added: "Nigeria will be free. Nigerians will see a nation that is free of corruption, that has leaders whose only interest is in uplifting the people and creating an environment where our people can realize their potential. "

"I remain committed to this ideal. It is a commitment that I have dedicated my life to, and my resolve to stay the path and keep on with the fight remains strong!"

Omoyele Sowore, a renown activist and presidential candidate of the African Action  Congress both in 2019 and 2023 general elections has revealed how his birth date was recorded in 1971 by his maternal grandfather.

While many of our leaders and political officeholders either doctored their age or declear that their birth dates are known, Sowore publihed the raw data as was written by his maternal grandfather Pa John Olawoye.

PRESS STATEMENT: THE AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS (AAC) FROWNS AT THE CONTINUOUS ATTEMPTS ON THE LIFE OF MR OMOYELE SOWORE

*THE AAC WILL NOT ACCEPT ATTACKS ON OMOYELE SOWORE AND OTHER PRO-DEMOCRACY CAMPAIGNERS, AS THE NEW NORMAL.*

*WE CALL ON THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO STOP PERSECUTING HIM AND STOP THIS OBVIOUS DANCE OF SHAME*

In the list of the new lows that the despicable Buhari-regime has sunk Nigeria into, is the mobilization of thugs through its militia arm, the State Security Service (SSS) and other security agencies to attack pro-democracy campaigner, the Chairman of the African Action Congress, Mr Omoyele Sowore.

It has become trite to see thugs operating violently yet freely in broad daylight, at the Federal High Court premises in Abuja, specifically when Sowore alongside other Nigerians comes to solidarize with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigneous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the trial by the Federal Government.

It is also not news that these thugs enjoy state protection, as it has been the case everytime he’s been attacked. The last time being October 21, 2021, these thugs attacked Sowore but were apprehended and handed over to the Police by courageous journalists who were locked out of the Court by “official thugs”- the DSS. This happened while all heavily armed security agents looked the other way.

These thugs were then released almost immediately and we can not ascertain if at all they were taken to the Federal Secretariat Police station before being released.

The case wasn’t different today December 2, 2021 as the thugs came prepared to kill. The window of Mr Sowore’s car was smashed in a bid to get hold of him and while he was driven away, other things that could cause harm were thrown at his car. Members of our party in his company were also not spared by these thugs.

We condemn in the strongest terms these attacks on the Chairman of our party, Mr Sowore and we call on the Buhari regime to stop this show of shame it is serving the international community.

While the Buhari regime seeks to normalize fascism, hardship and human rights violation, the AAC through all revolutionary means will not fold its arms on this issue. We refuse to accept as a new normal these brazen attacks on individuals and corporate entities who hold dissenting opinions against the Buhari regime.

The AAC will not watch this slide or wait for another “Government magic” (killing and later denial of killing) to happen to our peace-loving Chairman, as it is now the case of several massacres in the country.

Conclusively, we call on the Buhari regime to pick itself from the dust and accept defeat honourably. It must stop forthwith the persecution of Omoyele Sowore as it is glaring the regime has no case against him.

PRESS STATEMENT: VICTORY IN SIGHT AS MATTER AT APPEAL COURT, ABUJA IS ADJOURNED TO 22ND FEBRUARY, 2022 FOR HEARING

PRESS STATEMENT: VICTORY IN SIGHT AS MATTER AT APPEAL COURT, ABUJA IS ADJOURNED TO 22ND FEBRUARY, 2022 FOR HEARING

The African Action Congress (AAC) wishes to inform all members and the public of its appeal against the furtherance of illegality under the supervision of Professor Mahmoud Yakubu’s Independent National Electoral Commisson (INEC), which came up today November 10, 2021 at the Court of Appeal, Abuja.

The three-man panel of Justices of the Court of Appeal in Abuja granted our Motion to amend our Notice of Appeal and Brief of Argument.

As a party that believes in democratic tenets and the principles of separation of power, we have approached the Court for a redress against the judgment delivered against the party's leadership in a case which was sponsored by some disgruntled and fraudulent elements who were expelled from the party through constitutional and democratic means.

The National Legal Adviser, Inibehe Effiong (Esq.) while addressing the press today made it clear that victory is at sight and that none of the Respondents (Leonard and INEC) have filed a counter-argument to the appeal.

However, we also wish to state that we are not oblivious of the oppressive and exploitative system we are up against, whose judicial mills grind slowly when it concerns pro-people political alternatives such as ours. But the mill gets overtly energized when it concerns those who have ruined our space and have cornered our resources for the solidification of their political hegemony.

We appeal that our matter be given speedy hearing for the sake of justice.

The National Working Committee of the party led by Mr Omoyele Sowore is confident that the imposters who are mere willful tools in the hands of our oppressors would soon run out of gas, as the people of Nigeria are mobilized against their agenda.

We shall return to the Court of Appeal in Abuja on the 22nd day of February, 2022 for hearing of our substantive appeal.

Onward to victory.

BEING THE PRESS TEXT OF THE AFRICAN ACTION CONGRESS, IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 61ST INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY, ON OCTOBER 4, 2021 AT 13A, ISAAC JOHN STREET, IKEJA LAGOS

Good day ladies and gentlemen of the Press.

It is our pleasure at the African Action Congress (AAC) to welcome you to this auspicious Press conference that is being organized to espouse some of the issues bedevilling our country, Nigeria, to assess the state of the country, the socio-political conditions of the mass of our people, to criticize as necessary and to proffer solutions as a fore-sighted political party armed with revolutionary ideas.

We are gathered here today, not as accidents of history but as conscious elements positioned by past and current realities that are due to the ubiquitous failure of government, which has led the Nigerian state to a total collapse.

But as nature abhors vacuum, the burden to right the wrongs in our socio-political and economic sphere have rested on us. This burden, we have carried with pride for the last 3 years as a political party.

There are no milder words to put the state of the nation, other than disarray, confusion, cannibalistic, reeking incompetence of the highest order and backwardness. Since flag independence in 1960, the everyday Nigerian whose interests we protect and aspirations we push, at the African Action Congress have been shut out of governance. Despite the 22 years of uninterrupted civil rule, the average Nigerian cannot boast of any dividends of the much-touted democracy. He has been left to cater for himself in all forms of human survival. Recent of all the darts thrown at him, is the sermon that he should find a way to defend himself against violent attacks by different types of terrorists the government has found comfortable names for- ‘’bandits’’, ‘’killer herdsmen’’ and ‘’unknown gunmen’’.

To score the Buhari regime on its failure to fulfil any of its promises to the mass of our people would be a waste of productive time. We shall require another measurement scale for it. In 2015 and again in 2019, the APC campaigned on three pillars – security, anti-corruption, and economy; the Buhari regime has failed woefully on all three.

SECURITY

Insecurity has been “democratized” and become so pervasive that there is no greater testimony of the large-scale insecurity in the land than the robbery of the Chief of Staff to the President within the Aso Villa presidential precincts and the recent invasion, killing of two officers and abduction of another officer inside the nation’s premier military training institution, the Nigerian Defence Academy. The Buhari regime is a god with clay feet which is incapable of protecting itself and its officials from the insecurity it has wrought on the nation. If it is so incompetent in protecting its high-ranking officials, how can it protect the ordinary citizens? Can one give what he doesn’t have!

It is so unfortunate that there has not been any progressive realization of the safe and conducive space for all. Rather, Nigeria has retrogressed under the Buhari regime and it is now the 3rd most terrorized country in the world.

Placing the Nigerian space on a map today, the Buhari regime cannot boast of 10 percent where it has total control of and can assert sovereignty. We now have a horrible situation whereby terrorists now do humanitarian works like international NGOs, impose taxes on citizens and even declare a Governor for the people.

ANTI-CORRUPTION

The Buhari regime came in 2015 huffing and puffing about fighting corruption and mouthing slogans such as “if we don’t kill corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria”. Rather than kill corruption, it has pampered the corrupt. The regime continues to deodorize its officials engaged in corruption and abuse of office. The APC membership card is now effectively a “get-out-of-jail-card” for corrupt officials. People standing trial for corruption, simply move into the party and their sins are forgiven as stated by its former chairman, Adams Oshiomhole. There is no better example of this than the current Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva who had all his property earlier seized via court order, some of which he deposed in an affidavit were not his, returned to him by the EFCC when he became the arrowhead of the party’s rigging machine in Bayelsa state. The regime has bungled every corruption case instituted and has failed to achieve a conviction in the rash of corruption trials it instituted on coming to power in 2015.

ECONOMY

There is no sector where the regime’s abysmal failure and incompetence is most glaring than the economy. To pose the question which the current Minister of Works posed to the other pair of the two left legs we call “major” political parties in Nigeria, the PDP during the 2015 elections “are your lives better today than they were 5 year ago?” the resounding answer is a loud NO!

Unlike Midas, everything Buhari and his regime touches simply turns to dust. The first economic recession Nigeria witnessed was in 1984 during his short-lived brutal regime. In his second coming to power, Nigeria has suffered two other economic recessions, one in 2016 and another in 2020. He has the uncanny ability to turn success to failure and prosperity to poverty.

The economy under Buhari has been characterized by widespread poverty, galloping inflation and unsustainable debt overhang.

In 2020, an additional seven million Nigerians were plunged into what the World Bank described as multi-dimensional poverty by the Buhari regime bringing the number of Nigerians who wallow in multidimensional poverty to 98 million people or almost 50% of our total population. The multidimensional poverty index measures not just poverty by income, but also by access to health, education and living conditions such as sanitation, portable water, electricity, and housing.

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its figures show that 40% or 83 million Nigerians live in poverty in 2020. Even if we take the NBS figures, the number of Nigerians living in poverty exceed the total populations of South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Mauritius and Eswatini (Swaziland) put together.

The Buhari regime has made a song and dance about cash transfers to tackle poverty but what Nigerians need is not hand out to party cronies. What is required is an enabling environment and sound policy directives which allow Nigerians to unleash their creative abilities to create wealth. As the bible teaches, what we need are fishers not handing over fishes to us.

The extreme poverty in the country has been exacerbated by galloping inflation and chronic unemployment.

Inflation in Nigeria continues to rise at an alarming rate. As at Q2 2021, it stands at over 17% fueled by rising food prices and considering that about 50% of Nigerians’ disposable income is spent on food (compared to less than 10% in UK, US and Canada), this is a double whammy for Nigerians.  Insecurity has ensured that farmers in both the north and south cannot go to their farms due to threat of banditry, kidnapping or clashes with itinerant herders. The hare-brained policy of shutting land borders for over a year ostensibly to curb small arms trafficking only succeeded in pushing up prices of goods and encouraging smuggling and corruption at the borders. To make matters worse, the president came out to admit that the policy had not succeeded in curbing the inflow of arms as more arms had come in during the border closure than previously. All these coupled with the free fall of the naira due to a monetary policy based on cronyism and patronage has brought untold hardship on Nigerians. How does one define incompetence if not this!

In Q2, 2015 when the Buhari regime came into power, unemployment was less than 10%, by the end of 2020, Buhari had worsened it to over 33% and rising. Youth unemployment is about 50% thus providing a ready army for terrorists and other criminal enterprises.

In our 2019 campaign policy document, we proposed an ambitious programme to boost disposable income, engage the youths in productive activities and embark on massive public works to ameliorate our infrastructure deficit as well as provide employment. Some said our plan to raise the minimum wage to N100,000.00 will cause inflation; now with a paltry N30,000.00 minimum wage we still have rising inflation occasioned by Buhari’s incompetence.

Nowhere is Buhari’s mismanagement of the economy more obvious and disturbing than in the unsustainable debt into which he continues to plunge the country. The regime met a debt profile of $10.72 billion in 2015 and has ballooned this $33.35 billion! Today, 97% of our revenue is used to service debt (that is, pay interest), no nation develops this way.

DEMOCRATIC SPACE and HUMAN RIGHTS

It is the position of the African Action Congress that the democratic space in the last 22 years and most especially under the Buhari Regime has suffered major setbacks and the civic platforms that should breathe life to people’s participation in governance have continue to shrink. To mention a few is the deregistration of political parties that, according the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), failed to meet the conditions to remain registered. Despite a previous court order to the contrary, the INEC continue in its undemocratic defiance to people’s participation.

We maintain that this is inimical to what the likes of the Late Gani Fawehinmi fought for, i.e- the multi-party system. Nigerians will not succumb to the binary choice pressure from the two sides of an evil coin- APC and PDP. Political parties and the participation in them must be based on ideology and they must not be reduced to ‘’special purpose vehicles’’ for ‘’winning’’ elections.

Furthermore, as glaring as an albino in daylight are the abuse of power, gross attacks on human rights, viz a viz, rights to freedom of expression, of association, to hold thoughts, beliefs and conscience, flagrant disobedience to court orders, laced with irritating impunity.

The human rights record of the Buhari regime is such that should worry any rational human being. If anything, the regime has always topped rankings when it concerns poor performance of institutions that should protect rights of citizens. The Police is atop in this aspect.

There is no gainsaying that the unpopular regime is afraid of any gathering of the people. From trying to attack social media, to the ban of Twitter, the draconian broadcasting codes, asking Civil Society organizations and NGOs to pay tax, the regime keeps sinking the country and it is preventing any engagement whatsoever and wherever that is geared towards saving what’s left of the country. But for the conscious efforts, laced with sweat and blood of the young people of this country sometime in October 2020, during the global protests tagged #EndSARS, we may by now be queuing at Aso Villa to receive permits to sneeze.

NATIONAL QUESTION

One of the biggest debates today in the country is the question of nationhood, whether to break into bits, maintain the status quo, however unfortunate or to restructure.

We maintain that these agitations, especially from the rank and file have more economic inclinations than political. We are clear on the fact that asides the nepotistic stature of President Buhari, what have continued to fuel the agitation for secession from different quarters are crippling poverty, economic backwardness, perennial social turmoil in the midst of vast human and material resources. Anyone who is not analyzing this issue within these contexts would be doing a half work.

The common man would not mind the height, stature, religion, body language or mother tongue of the occupier (intended meaning) of Aso Villa, if there was fair access to the dividends of our commonwealth- quality and affordable education, proper healthcare, good infrastructure, a thriving business environment and adequate security in all forms. If the Yoruba farmer could go to farm and be assured of the safety of himself and the works of his hands, the Igbo trader to his business with the assurance of prosperity and the Hausa with other ethnic nationalities within the space could be afforded a thriving and safe environment that welcomes development, no one would admire the call for the break-up of such union. What is unfortunate is that the reverse is the case as of today. And rather than address the underlying issues, the unpopular Buhari regime has resorted to violent harassment of the protesters who are exercising, of all rights, their rights to freedom of expression.

Our position in the African Action Congress is that self-determination is a right. Even the Christian Bible posits that ‘’Can two walk together except they agree?’’, let alone 200 tribes. The people in the Nigerian space must come together to discuss how they want to live and be governed. The AAC believes that the unity of Nigeria is negotiable and must be negotiated within the ambits of the law that affords equity, fairness and social justice. We are of the belief that you do not command peace into the air by some declaration in Abuja. Where there is no justice, peace is definitely going to be missing.

THE WAY FORWARD AS A PEOPLE

The AAC posits that its manifesto forms the instrument with which it shall mobilize all Nigerians in the struggle for political power towards peace and prosperity. The Manifesto code-named SPICERHEAT is detailed on the way out of this quagmire we have found ourselves as a people.

However, we are making the following immediate demands.

- Immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners- Omoyele Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu, Sunday Adeyemo (Sunday Igboho), and all #EndSARS protesters who are still unjustly languishing in detention centres across the country. We hope the regime will toe the path of civility, reason and logic to release these persons before the 20th of October, 2021 which marks the anniversary of the killing of peaceful protesters which is now known as the Lekki Massacre.

- An immediate stop to the executive harassment of striking doctors. Their demands should rather be met.

- Immediate halt to borrowing, until a serious and independent audit of the earlier received loans is done.

- The trashing of the accidented Electoral Act 2021 (amended) that gives allowance for fraud and hijack of the electoral space by money-bags. For an Act that allows full electronic transmission of results.

- That President Muhammadu Buhari should resign with immediate effect as he has shown gross incompetence and cluelessness as it concerns piloting the affairs of the country. For the creation of an interim national government to midwife a brand new constitution that will usher in credible elections.

Also, a call for a national conference of Nigerians drawn from all ethnic nationalities, religious and cultural orientations, gender classifications and age differentiation, towards establishing a progressive, socially just, economically equitable, and ecologically sustainable society, is imminent at this time. We shall continue to be part of such discussions and shall provide leadership at all times.

We call on members of the public, home and abroad to join the African Action Congressonly ideologically clear formidable opposition party in the country.

Thank you.

Solidarity.

Buhari’s 75,000 Vs Sowore’s 100,000 - Femi Adeyeye

Buhari’s 75,000 Vs Sowore’s 100,000 - Femi Adeyeye

It was as if Sowore announced that aliens were about to take over the Nigerian space, when he rolled out some of the welfare plans of the AAC party, which includes working out a scheme that will pay each Nigerian University student a Cost of Living/Study Allowance of 100,000 Naira per Semester.

The shock that greeted the promise during that period did not come from any debate by his opponents or their allies, because they never argued it. The people who argued most are the so-called intellectuals; Economists on Facebook and Policy Analysts on Twitter.

“Where will the money come from?”, “Is it sustainable?” “Will they now receive more than the minimum wage?” “What is the value of the intercept?” “Will it hit the gradient of Humanity Vs Belliconomics curve?” (I made this up 😀) But there was nothing we didn’t hear and there was no question we didn’t answer at that time. Omoyele Sowore remains one of the most engaged Politicians of this era. Today, the Buhari regime promised 75,000 for University Education students and 50,000 for College of Education students.

I would admit anyway that the debate then was somehow healthy. However, I want to tell you that if a government that reeks of corruption, ineptitude and grand mismanagement could still mutter such promise; “audio” or not, it goes to show that they understand that it is very possible to implement.

In many of our schools, Education students are the most populous, so if nobody is questioning the feasibility of paying the 75k, it means we would be adding just little to pay everyone 100k.

We explained then that by massive industrialization of the economy, serious production- rather than this guess-work kind of economy that we run, blocking of loopholes, conduits of corruption and cesspools, we would pay 100,000 Naira minimum wage, which was just an addition of some billions to the wage bill as at 2018. Interestingly, we were told paying people a living wage would cause inflation.

Today, there is serious double-digit inflation without paying our 100,000 wage. Many states are not even paying the approved  30,000 Naira. Buhari has blamed the “middlemen” again.

Nigerians. You are the ones I’m talking to now.

It’s understandable that you find it hard to believe there is a way out of this misery. As against what you have held as popular opinion, I want to tell you that you deserve good life and it is very possible to lead one, here on earth. Not in heaven.

Make suffer tire una na.

NIGERIA IS ABOUT TO SNAP; THE UN MUST ACT NOW TO AVERT CATASTROPHE - NINAS

(Being a Letter Addressed to United Nations Security Council, the Trusteeship Council and the General Assembly, September 14, 2021 by the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination, (NINAS), at the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

PROTOCOLS.

1.    We, the Indigenous Peoples of Nigeria gather today at the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York to alert the UN, and the rest of the Global Community that the Union of Nigeria has failed irredeemably; and is now at the verge of a Violent Disintegration with Catastrophic Consequences for Global Peace, and Security as our population of over 200 million would become an Instant Global Refugee Nightmare.

2.    Amidst the extraordinary difficulties inflicted by the imposition and enforcement of Sharia by a section of Nigeria in a supposedly Secular Union, the immediate reason for this looming catastrophe is the Cocktail of Mass Killing, Kidnapping and General Banditry being orchestrated against the Indigenous Peoples of Nigeria by an invading Fulani Militia masquerading as Herdsmen in an undisguised Ethnic Cleansing Campaign that progressively demonstrate the Complicity of the Federal Government of Nigeria headed by Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, a Fulani man, who as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria is also the Life Grand Patron of the notorious Myetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria; that proudly takes responsibility for the Murderous Exploits of the Fulani Herdsmen  Militia designated the Fourth Most Deadly Terror Group.

3.    Compounding their impunity, the same Myetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association at a recent Press Conference organised to mock the Planned NINAS Million-Man Freedom March to the UN, boasted to be in control of the UN through their daughter, Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General at the UN. An indication that (Amina Mohammed) nominated to that Exalted UN Position by the Fulani President of Nigeria Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, is in some way a part of the Grand Protection Design for the Fulani Herdsmen in their Bloody, Onslaught against the Indigenous Peoples of Nigeria.

4.    It will be recalled that following widespread extrajudicial killings in Nigeria, the UN in August of 2019, dispatched a Special Rapporteur Mission to Nigeria led by Agnes Callamard. The Damning Verdict of that Rapporteur Mission was that the widespread extrajudicial killings were flowing from the Unitary Constitutional Arrangements of Nigeria, which operates as a PRESSURE-COOKER FOR INJUSTICE and that Nigeria under that Constitution is a Danger to Global Peace and Security. The Report warned that unless something is done urgently, Nigeria would Snap, plunging its 200 million Population into turmoil that will trigger a Large-Scale Refugee Crisis of unprecedented magnitude at a time the Global Terror Networks, ISIS, ISWAP and AL-Qaeda are already converging in Nigeria.

5.    It will be recalled that in furtherance of the Repudiation and Rejection of the Unitary Constitution of Nigeria (1999), and the Toxic Union it foists, the Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities Alliance for Self-Determination (being the South and Middle-Belt of Nigeria) on December 16, 2020 Declared a Constitutional Force Majeure, raising a Union Dispute with 5-Point Demand for the termination of the operation of the aforementioned imposed Constitution; for the immediate commencement of remediation of the Long-Standing Grave Constitutional Grievances of Nigeria’s Constituent Components, failing which the Peoples of the Alliance Territory would Reconsider their Allegiance to that Constitution. The Key Highlights of the five-point demand include the suspension of the further elections (Particularly the 2023 Elections), under the repudiated 1999 constitution as well as the initiation of a time-bound transitioning arrangement to mid-wife the emergence of fresh constitutional protocols founded on the sovereignty and self-determination rights of the constituent components of Nigeria. An Online Petition conveying the Demands of that Constitutional Force Majeure Proclamation, is currently before the UN Security Council.

6.    That Nigeria has failed as a State is no longer a Subject for Debate, having emerged the Global Poverty Capital, and Playing Host to Two of the World’s Top Four Most Deadly Terrorists Organisation, with Three-quarters of the Constituent Components (South and Middle-Belt) Seeking Urgent Extrication by Way of Referendums from what has become a Union of Death. Looking back at the recent turn of events in Afghanistan, this Freedom March to the United Nations Headquarters in New York, is to alert the Global Community of the rapidly degenerating situation of Nigeria, and to invite United Nations, particularly the Security Council, and Trusteeship Council, to initiate Urgent Steps to Arrest Nigeria’s Descent into Chaos, as besieged communities drift dangerously to self-help.

POLICE EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLINGS IN LAGOS: TIB MOVEMENT LAGOS CONDEMNS THE MURDER OF MONSURAT OJUADE, DEMANDS JUSTICE AND END TO KILLINGS

POLICE EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLINGS IN LAGOS: TIB MOVEMENT LAGOS CONDEMNS THE MURDER OF MONSURAT OJUADE, DEMANDS JUSTICE AND END TO KILLINGS

*TAKE IT BACK MOVEMENT LAGOS STATE*

14TH SEPTEMBER, 2021

FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE

*POLICE EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLINGS IN LAGOS: TIB MOVEMENT LAGOS CONDEMNS THE MURDER OF MONSURAT OJUADE, DEMANDS JUSTICE AND END TO KILLINGS*

We in the Take It Back Movement Lagos condemns in strict terms the extra-judicial killing of an 18-year-old admission seeker, Monsurat Ojuade, who was fatally shot dead in cold blood on September 11, 2021 by a trigger-happy policeman in Lagos State.

We equally condemn the dead on arrival efforts of the Lagos police in an attempt to cover up the truth by releasing a misleading police report that was unrelated to the brutal event which led to the death of Monsurat Ojuade on September 11, 2021.

Mosurat Ojuade, who was awaiting university admission having scored 236 marks in JAMB was killed by a trigger-happy policeman identified as one Samuel Phillips during their usual illegal and unlawful raid in Surulere neighborhood.

Eye witness confirmed that Monsurat Ojuade and her sister ran into their compound for safety, as the raider was ransacking the neighborhood. But as their mother tried to hurriedly closed the gate, the police officer shot into their gate at very close range.

Monsurat Ojuade was first taken to a public hospital for treatment but she was rejected due to the ongoing strike. As she continue bleeding, her family took her to another hospital but unfortunately she died at the third hospital after bleeding profusely from the bullet wound.

We use this opportunity to remind the public of how the Lagos police brutally murdered Jumoke at the Yoruba Nation rally on the 3rd July, 2021. The policeman who shot Jumoke is yet to be identified, dismissed or prosecuted, instead the Lagos police charged one of the Yoruba Nation agitators who is an Ogboni chief with the death of Jumoke just to cover up the unfortunate incident. There has been no #JusticeForJumoke after 73 days of her brutal murder.

While we acknowledge the arrest and identification of the trigger-happy policeman as claimed by the Lagos CP, we call for his quick dismissal from service and also his quick prosecution according to the law.

We also call for permanent end to police brutality, human rights violations, extra-judicial killings, frequent victimisation and harassment of Lagosian by the police, as well as the unlawful policing by some members of the Nigerian Police Force.

We put the public and Lagosians on alert over the rising cases of police brutality and killings that never stopped even after #EndSARS.

We send our humble tribute and condolences to the family of Monsurat Ojuade and we pray that God grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

May her soul and the souls of faithful departed rest in peace.

We want #JusticeForJumoke

We want #JusticeForMonsurat
