2027 General Elections: Meet Labour Party Presidential Aspirant Dr Peter Agada

2027 General Elections: Meet Labour Party Presidential Aspirant Dr Peter Agada

"Arc. Dr. Peter Agada" is a 29-year veteran architect, infrastructure policy strategist, and acoustic design specialist. He’s the Principal of Cyrus Acoustics Sound C4i & Co. Limited, President of the Congress of Professionals, and currently serves as the *Shadow Minister of Infrastructure in the Big Tent Shadow Government
.

Here’s who he is and why Nigeria needs him now:

WHO HE IS

1. The Architect of Substance:

29+ years in practice across Nigeria and Africa. Not just building design, but *acoustic architecture - the specialized field of soundproofing, acoustics, and facility performance for public buildings, studios, and industrial sites. That’s a rare skill set in Nigeria.

Infrastructure Designer: Has developed master plans for highways, oil & gas facilities, energy systems, multimodal transport, logistics hubs, agro-industrial clusters, tech parks, and military security infrastructure.

2. The Policy Architect

President, Congress of Professionals since 2006*: Leads a team of global and local experts who design policy solution templates for government. They’ve been advising on infrastructure and economic planning for nearly 20 years.

Founder of http://LABOURDIRECT.COM*: A cross-sector digital platform that integrates policy and infrastructure planning for every sector of the economy. It’s a ready-made system government can adopt instead of starting from scratch.

3. The Political Operator

Immediate Past Director of Finance, Obedient Movement: Managed finance and operations for one of Nigeria’s largest civic movements. Shows he can handle public funds and accountability.

Shadow Minister of Infrastructure: Directly responsible for policy blueprints on Energy, Works, Housing, and Urban Development. He’s already written the playbook for reform.

WHY NIGERIA NEEDS HIM NOW

Nigeria’s infrastructure crisis isn’t just lack of money. It’s waste, abandonment, and lack of integration. Arc. Dr. Agada hits all three problems at once:

Nigeria’s Problem — What He Brings

₦3T+ yearly waste from inflated contracts and abandoned projects  — Open BOQ + Acoustic expertise: He knows how to read a Bill of Quantities and spot inflated costs. As an architect, he understands that you don’t build without approved drawings and measured quantities.

12,000+ abandoned projects littering the country — Finish-first policy: His Congress of Professionals has been pushing “complete old projects before starting new ones” since 2006. He has the template.

Fragmented planning: Housing, energy, transport all operate in silos **Integrated master planning**: http://LABOURDIRECT.COM connects all sectors so roads, housing, energy, and logistics are planned together, not in isolation.

No trust in government spending — Transparency + accountability background: Finance director experience + shadow minister role means he understands public scrutiny and will deliver visible results.

Slow implementation: 2-3 years just for design and approvals — Ready-to-deploy solutions: He already has master plans and policy frameworks. You skip the consulting phase and move straight to execution.

---

THE 100-DAY VALUE

If you appoint him today:

Day 30: He can audit and publish the real status of all abandoned FG projects using his BOQ expertise.

Day 60: He can roll out http://LABOURDIRECT.COM as the government’s infrastructure planning dashboard.

Day 100: He can break ground on 2-3 integrated projects that combine housing + energy + transport, because he’s designed them already.

The Architect’s Advantage: Most ministers are politicians. He’s a builder who understands policy. He doesn’t just talk infrastructure. He can draw it, cost it, build it, and defend it.

The Timing Advantage: Nigeria just removed fuel subsidy. People need to see visible infrastructure and housing delivery fast to restore trust. He has the designs and the delivery framework to do it.

---

In one line: _Arc. Dr. Peter Agada is the man who can design the building, write the policy for it, cost it transparently, and deliver it without abandonment. He is the New Architect For A New Nigeria.

Labour Party 2027 Agenda: A New Architect For A New Nigeria As Architect Peter Agada Sets To Lead The Team (#PosterSpeaks)

Labour Party 2027 Agenda: A New Architect For A New Nigeria As Architect Peter Agada Sets To Lead The Team (#PosterSpeaks)

Architect (Dr) Peter Agada has declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election on the Labour Party (LP) platform.

Agada has reviewed blessings of many within and outside the party including   traditional rulers , among them is the Och’Idoma, Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John.

The Architect for a New Nigeria (Agada) made his ambition public and known during a visit to the Och’Idoma’s palace, where he led a delegation of young professionals and political associates to inform the paramount ruler of his presidential bid formally.

The LP aspirant was received by palace chiefs, youth groups, and traditional aides and used the occasion to outline his policy direction, anchored in what he described as “direct labour.”

Dr. Peter had in a series of statement identified insecurity, widespread youth unemployment, a weakening nai

ra, poor infrastructure and erosion of public trust as “major problems befalling us as a nation.”

According to Him, direct labour would prioritise security through community-led intelligence, supported by technology to safeguard both rural and urban areas He also proposed establishing industrial hubs across the geopolitical zones, focusing on agro-processing and solid minerals, to drive job creation for youth

Agada, on human capital development, advocated a national skills-to-industry programme, alongside urgent reforms in education and primary healthcare.

Highlighting governance, he promised inclusivity and stressed what he termed “competence without cronyism” to ensure all regions feel a sense of belonging..

“Nigeria needs execution, not excuses. Labour Direct is about putting Nigerians to work—securing them, skilling them

Agada, a member of the Big Tent Shadow Government serving as Minister of Infrastructure, Energy, Works, Housing and Urban Development, also previously chaired the Big Tent Support Group Council.

He is the Founder and Chairman of Cyrus Group Nigeria, described as the world’s largest acoustics organisation.

In his response, the Och’Idoma expressed support for the aspiration, noting the growing involvement of young people in national politics.“I am thrilled and excited that young people are banding together and networking,” the monarch said, praising Agada’s “boldness and demonstration of strength and capacity,” which he described as a source of pride for Idoma land.

The royal father, however, urged unity among the Idoma people.

“Unity among the Idoma has been largely lacking. If we must present our best to Nigeria, we must first be one at home,” he said.

He offered prayers for the success of the ambition and called on Idoma sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora, to support the project.

Oyo State Labour Party Press Statement: Public Disclaimer on one Alhaj Atayese Tunji Sodiq and Femi Emmanuel

The Oyo State Labour Party under the leadership of Sir Dele Abiola hereby inform the general public of the   impersonation of the party's leadership by one Alhaj Atayese Tunji Sodiq and one Femi Emmanuel parading themselves as the executive of the party in Oyo State.

We wish to inform the general public and the security operatives that they are impostors. Doing any business with them and their affiliates on behalf of the Oyo State Labour Party should be at a personal risk.

The duo have been parading themselves as the chairman and publicity secretary of the party in the state, calling on unsuspecting individuals to come to them for expression of interest for among other things.

We called on the security operatives of the Nigerian Police and the State Security Service to call the duo and their cronies to order.

For the public information, both the Abure's illegal convention and congresses have both been quashed both by the court and the just concluded National Convention of the party held in Umuahia, Abia State.

Thanks for your concerns.

OGUN LABOUR PARTY CONGRESS: HOW APAGUN OLAOLU SAMUEL BABATUNDE EMERGED CHAIRMAN, DEFYING ALL ODDS

OGUN LABOUR PARTY CONGRESS: HOW APAGUN OLAOLU SAMUEL BABATUNDE EMERGED CHAIRMAN, DEFYING ALL ODDS

Abeokuta, Ogun State

Apagun

The Ogun State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP) successfully conducted its State Congress on April 25, 2026, defying all anticipated challenges to produce a new set of executive committee members.

In a decisive electoral victory, Apagun Olaolu Samuel Babatunde emerged as the new State Chairman of the party. His emergence, however, was against the wish and interest of some gang-up opportunists who paraded themselves as leaders. Despite their machinations, the majority will of true party members prevailed.

The congress was held against all odds, yet it remained peaceful, transparent, and orderly. Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were seated at the high table throughout the process, witnessing and validating the conduct of the exercise.

The newly elected executive members, led by Chairman Apagun Olaolu Samuel Babatunde, immediately took their oaths of office and were inaugurated, officially commencing their tenure to steer the party’s affairs in Ogun State.

In his acceptance speech, Apagun reiterated that Enough is Enough, as Labour Party shall no longer preserve the transactional political class, who only uses her platform to cash out during the election season. He admonished the members to stand up and fight for the political emancipation of Nigeria as the political space has been overheated by the incumbent government. He asserted that we have done it before even when we were not organized, we will repeat the political tsunami of 2023 with courage, repositioning and rebranding of the party for greater acceptance.

Without mincing words, the radiation of joy and happiness in the faces of all the attendees is a confirmation that the congress was successful, credible, and a clear rebuke to anti-democratic elements within our ranks.

PRESS STATEMENT : ABURE FACTION’S PLOT TO DISRUPT STATE CONGRESSES FAILED; FRESH PLOT TO DISRUPT 28TH APRIL NATIONAL CONVENTION UNCOVERED — SOUTH WEST CHAIRMEN RAISE ALARM

PRESS STATEMENT : ABURE FACTION’S PLOT TO DISRUPT STATE CONGRESSES FAILED; FRESH PLOT TO DISRUPT 28TH APRIL NATIONAL CONVENTION UNCOVERED — SOUTH WEST CHAIRMEN RAISE ALARM

Friday, 25th April 2026

ATTENTION: National Leadership, Labour Party | INEC | DSS | Nigeria Police Force | General Public.

We, the State Working Committee members of the Labour Party across the six South West states, wish to alert the National Leadership, INEC, security agencies, and the general public to a sinister plot by political contractors loyal to the Julius Abure faction to disrupt the activities of the Labour Party.

Our Findings:

1. Failed Disruption: The Abure faction attempted to disrupt the State Congresses held across the country today, Friday, 25th April 2026. Their plot failed due to the vigilance of party members and security agencies.

2. New Threat: we have credible intelligence that the same elements, many of whom earlier defected to the ADC, are now mobilizing to stage protests and cause chaos at the National Convention scheduled for Monday28th April 2026.

3. Bad Faith & Hypocrisy: these individuals abandoned the party but rushed back only after recent court rulings affirmed the Nenadi Esther Usman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha-led National Working Committee as the authentic leadership. On record, Julius Abure conducted his own congresses in December 2025 without involving us. Despite several reconciliation attempts, they rejected peace and now demand inclusion after the process is concluded.

Our Position:

1. The Ward, Local Government, and State Congresses in the South West were duly organized, conducted, and concluded. New executives have emerged to pilot the affairs of the party.

2. We call on the National Leadership not to allow these political contractors to derail the party. They were the architects of Abure’s travails and must not be allowed to distract us again.

3. We urge INEC, DSS, and the Nigeria Police to secure the venue of the 28th April National Convention and prevent impostors from undermining the party’s democratic process.

The task before us is enormous: grassroots outreach, mass mobilization of Nigerians into the Labour Party, and strategic planning to win elections. We refuse to be distracted by elements whose only trade is crisis.

The South West Labour Party is united, focused, and moving forward.

Forward Ever, Backward Never.

3. PRESS RELEASE : SENATOR USMAN PARTICIPATES IN WARD CONGRESS AS LABOUR PARTY (LP) BEGINS NATIONWIDE EXERCISE, COMMENDS INEC FOR PROFESSIONALISM

"The Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Nenadi Usman, today participated in the party’s ward congress in her Jere South Ward, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The exercise was held jointly with Jere North Ward at the same venue.

Speaking after observing the process, Senator Usman noted that ward members peacefully elected new executives to manage party affairs at the grassroots level. This marks the commencement of our congresses with the ward level.

What you have seen here are Jere North and Jere South conducting their congresses together, as is customary. New executives have been duly elected, she said.

She outlined the next phases of the exercise, stating that the party will proceed to local government and state congresses before culminating in a national convention scheduled to hold in Umuahia, Abia State on Tuesday 28th April, 2026.

On inclusivity, Senator Usman re-affirmed the party’s commitment to gender balance, emphasizing the importance of increased female participation in leadership, particularly in party administration.

Ward congresses were conducted nationwide across the 8,809 political wards in Nigeria. The elected ward executives are expected to participate in the forthcoming local government congresses scheduled for April 24, 2026, followed by state congresses on April 25, leading to the national convention on April 28, 2026.

Senator Usman expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, describing it as orderly and well-coordinated. She commended INEC for its prompt deployment of monitoring teams across the country.

“Reports from across the federation indicate that the exercise was largely peaceful and well-organised, with INEC playing a commendable role through timely monitoring, she stated.

She urged party members to sustain the peaceful conduct observed during the ward congresses throughout the remaining stages of the process, including the national convention.

COURT OF APPEAL DISMISSES ABURE’S APPEAL, CENSURES HIM FOR ABUSING JUDICIAL PROCESS

COURT OF APPEAL DISMISSES ABURE’S APPEAL, CENSURES HIM FOR ABUSING JUDICIAL PROCESS

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE LABOUR PARTY

LP leaders and lawyers

The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, has, in a unanimous judgment delivered by a three-member panel of Justices, dismissed the appeal filed by Barrister Julius Abure challenging the leadership of the Labour Party.

It will be recalled that on 21st January 2026, Hon. Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, reaffirmed the earlier judgement of the Supreme Court that removed Barr. Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Senator Nenadi Usman as the legitimate leader of the Party, to the exclusion of all others.

Dissatisfied with that decision, Barr. Abure approached the Court of Appeal in suit No. CA/ABJ/CV/255/2026 – Barr. Julius Abure & Anor v. Sen. Nenadi Esther Usman & 3 Ors – seeking to overturn the judgment of the lower court.

In the lead judgment delivered by Justice Oyejoju Oyewumi, with Justices A. B. Mohammed and Eberechi Suzzette Nyesom-Wike concurring, the appellate court affirmed the decision of the Federal High Court. The court held that the Supreme Court had, on 4th April 2025, conclusively settled the leadership dispute within the Labour Party when it nullified the convention that purportedly returned Barr. Abure as National Chairman.

The appeal court agreed with the trial court that the court below had the powers under Section 251 of the Constitution to compel a statutory Federal Government agency to perform its functions when it ordered the INEC to recognise Senator Nenadi Usman as the national chairman of the Labour Party. The appeal court also agreed with the trial court that the constitution of the Caretaker Committee of the Labour Party headed by Usman was a doctrine of necessity needed to provide leadership in the party when there seemed to be a vacuum in the party.

The Justices strongly criticised Barr. Abure for abuse of court process and for going on forum shopping in a Nasarawa State High Court on a matter already decided by the Supreme Court and for persisting in laying claim to the leadership of the Party despite the clear and unambiguous pronouncement of the apex court. The Court further held that the appeal was devoid of merit and constituted an abuse of court process.

Consequently, the Court, while dismissing the appeal by Barr. Abure, imposed a cost of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) against him for wasting judicial time on a matter that had already been conclusively determined.

Reacting to the judgment, the Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Nenadi Usman, described the ruling as a victory for democracy and the rule of law. She commended the judiciary for its courage and steadfastness in upholding justice despite attempts by certain elements to undermine its integrity.

Senator Usman also expressed gratitude to party faithful and supporters across the country for their patience, loyalty, and unwavering commitment during the period of uncertainty. She urged all stakeholders to remain focused on the Party’s forthcoming congresses and national convention.

The Party further appreciates members of the media for their professionalism and objective reporting and calls on Nigerians to continue to place their trust in the Labour Party as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.

OPINION: A FOWL THAT DOWNCAST THE CORPUS — Apagun

OPINION: A FOWL THAT DOWNCAST THE CORPUS — Apagun

SAGAMU, NIGERIA. 19th of April, 2026.

Apagun Olaolu Samuel on a live interview with the crew of HotNews Naija, spoke of a mythic meditation on factionalism, accountability, and the peril of opportunistic reconciliation with people of questionable character, who in one way or the other has helped to plunge Labour Party at her most glorious moment into unnecessary and tumultuous in-fighting, opportunistic transactions through unholy alliances and a total mismanagement of the party's goodwill because of their self interest, should be forgotten claiming it's good riddance to bad rubbish.

He asserted that in the long arc of any political dispensation, disputes leave footprints that outlive the brief heat of contest as it is well crafted in a Yoruba proverb that  _"Adiye to ba da'fa ni, oun náà laa fi ko."_  Literally meaning, a fowl that down casted the corpus will surely be used to atone for the desecration. The fowl spoken of in Yoruba myth as one that down casts the Corpus is not merely a creature of superstition; it is a lantern held up to illuminate how dignity can be wounded when haste meets opportunism. Apagun Olaolu Samuel uses that ancient frame to reflect on a recent interview granted by one suspended member of Labour Party, a meddlesome interloper, transactional politician and a political tramp in person of Mr. Sunday Abayomi Onigbinde whose political stage name is Arabambi.

Apagun Olaolu Samuel acclaimed that Arabambi must have spoken out during his period of hallucinations or rather been intoxicated by another deal attracted, snapped, trapped and strapped to his frivolous political ambition through the ruling party just like he did in 2023. A character like Arabambi is not supposed to be patronized by the gentlemen of the press if they were not promoting division in the fold of Labour Party knowing fully well that he has been given an indefinite suspension.

Ogun State LP
 Chair, Apagun

He equally lambasted a passage within the Labour Party: a faction that once undermined our collective interest, questioned our authenticity, and disrupted our meetings, arrested us with the help of DSS and the Nigerian Police at one point or the other. Now, with a climate of potential reconciliation on the horizon, they masquerade themselves as leaders in Ogun State as we pause to consider how to rebuild without surrendering the core principles that gave us our strength.

He continues by saying "Eewo kii r'Egbe ka mọ, to ba de tan, latowo ntà." literally asserting, the sense that certain transgressions cannot be anticipated by those who are comfortable, until the moment of reckoning arrives. When an abomination is on a journey, recompense seem to be oblivious, but upon arrival, there shall be cries and gnashing of teeth.

The proverb warns against complacency: time may reveal motive, and accountability must follow action. In his words, he interpreted the fowl as embodiment of a past faction within the Labour Party whose actions disrupted common pursuit, undermined trust, and challenged collective authenticity.

The myth invites a disciplined response: acknowledge harm, demand transparency, uphold shared ethics, as the Corpus represents the shared project, the public trust, and the legitimacy of a political community acting for the common good. When the Corpus is cast down, the political community must decide how to rise with integrity without replacing principled disagreement with coerced alignment

APAGUN CAUTIONS MEDIA OVER ARABAMBI’S CLAIMED ALLIANCE WITH THE PRESIDENCY

Abeokuta, Nigeria – Apagun has issued a stern warning to members of the press regarding recent statements credited to Sunday Abayomi Onigbinde popularly known as Arabambi.

In a swift response, Apagun described Arabambi as a “suspended character, transactional politician and an impostor” who serves as “a well-known instrument of division and destruction in the hand of the ruling political party.” Apagun urged journalists to cease giving Arabambi undue recognition and to stop attributing to him offices he does not hold.

"As far as the Labour Party is concerned, Arabambi is persona non grata. He holds no office such as the Southwest Chairman as is being erroneously claimed," as it will be in the best interest of the party to maintain the calmness and relative peace we are having now after the suspension of Arabambi and his likes. If Arabambi and his cohorts has renewed their mandate to destroy Labour Party, he should come out and tell the whole world. He should come and tell us where he met with Governor Alex Otti to nurse such an idea.

Let it be published and broadcasted across Nigeria, Labour Party is leaving no stone unturn as we prepare for 2027. We have no reason to adopt a retrogressive political party or support a government that has woefully failed Nigerians.

DEMOCRACY IN PERIL: Opposition Parties Cry Foul Under Tinubu Govt"

Apagun

The Labour Party's Ogun State chairman, Apagun Olaolu Samuel, has expressed his deep thoughts about Nigeria's democracy, in a live interview with Adesina Alabi and Oluwafunmilayo Alex Oni in the FRONTIER MORNING SHOW. He stated that democracy in Nigeria is in an extreme perilous moment as gladiators and Nigerians can no longer express their aspirations through the political party of their choice. He stated that when the polity is been overheated, and the political drums is been overtly or covertly over beaten, then the drums are destined for destruction.

"The 2027 general elections is obviously going to be between the masses and the INEC, as it has been already conscripted for the ruling party before it started through a well laid and paid scientific rigging plan" He further submitted that we are tilting and drifting towards Tinubu turbulence moment of Nigeria state capture as many of the institutional agencies are now standing on his mandate.

Without mincing words, he asserted that Nigeria is in a tough spot under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alleging opposition parties are being sidelined and caged as Nigeria is sliding towards becoming a one party state under his watch. He's not happy about unfulfilled campaign promises and dwindling support for education, emphasizing that democracy should protect both the majority and minority voices.

On the other hand, Ogbemi Segun Amure, the spokesperson to the deputy speaker of Osun State House of Assembly warns that democracy needs a strong opposition to survive, pointing out that many parties face leadership issues and systemic difficulties through strategic interference by the ruling party . He's also concerned about delays in local government allocations of Osun State weakening democratic structures.

In contrast,.Comrade Opeyemi of RELAX Tinubu will Fix Nigeria, defends Tinubu's admin, saying the president's working to address economic challenges and it's unfair to blame him alone for the nation's financial situation.

Quit Notice to Transactional Political Class in Ogun Labour Party

Quit Notice to Transactional Political Class in Ogun Labour Party

Apagun

In a dramatic twist of events within the Ogun State chapter of the Labour Party, a familiar pattern of political opportunism has once again reared its ugly head—one that calls for urgent attention, clarity, and decisive action.

The group formerly aligned with the Abure-led faction—whose actions were marked by hostility, intimidation, and outright repression of dissenting voices—have suddenly rebranded themselves as loyalists of the Sen. Nnenadi Usman-led leadership. These are individuals who, not too long ago, actively maligned her supporters, orchestrated their harassment, and in some cases, facilitated their unjust arrests and disruption of their meetings through the unlawful acts of the law enforcement agencies. Today, in a stunning display of political convenience, they parade themselves as defenders of the very cause they once undermined, underrated, denigrated and suffocated.

This sudden transformation did not occur in a vacuum. It followed the court judgment of January 21st, a ruling that altered the internal balance of power and exposed the fragility of loyalties built not on ideology, but on access to influence. Faced with a new political reality, these actors have retreated from their former positions and embarked on what can only be described as a political pilgrimage—jetting off to Abuja and Umuahia, eager to capture photographic evidence of proximity to perceived centers of authority.

Their strategy is clear: to leverage these carefully curated moments—selfies with prominent figures—to create an illusion of endorsement, legitimacy, and insider status and boastfully claim in the public space that they have settled everything with Sen. Nnenadi Usman and Governor Alex Otto of Abia State. This deceptive optics is then deployed back home in Ogun State to mislead party faithful, manipulate public perception, and reinsert themselves into positions of relevance and control.

But let it be said unequivocally: proximity is not loyalty, and opportunism is not leadership.

The Labour Party, as a movement, was built on principles of justice, integrity, and people-centered governance. It cannot afford to be hijacked by transactional politicians whose memories of their past deeds are still very fresh with us, and their allegiance shifts with the winds of power. The party’s future depends on consistency, accountability, and a firm commitment to its founding ideals—not on recycled actors seeking rehabilitation without remorse or restitution.

This is, therefore, a formal notice—a political and moral quit notice—to all those who view the party as a platform for personal advancement rather than collective progress. Ogun State Labour Party must not be reduced to a marketplace of influence where loyalty is traded and principles are negotiable. Those who refuse to give official recognition to whom is due, having been approved and appointed by the Sen. Nnenadi Usman led Labour Party, subtly working through an interface and a support group platform of LPPMC, and who never for once acknowledge or respect any invitation extended to her cannot claim to be seeking reconciliation as they were actually lobbying for reconstitution of Labour Party in Ogun State.

True members and supporters must remain vigilant. The struggle to build a credible alternative political force requires not just participation, but discernment. Not everyone who speaks the language of reform believes in it. Not everyone who poses for pictures represents progress.

The time has come to draw a clear line.

Those who once stood against the movement, who undermined its values and oppressed its members, must not be allowed to rewrite history of Ogun State Labour Party without recourse to accountability. Redemption, if it is to be considered at all, must come with honesty, restitution, and a demonstrable commitment to change—not mere optics and opportunistic alignment.

Ogun Labour Party belongs to its genuine members—the resilient, the consistent, and the principled. It is not a refuge for political nomads seeking relevance in every new power configuration.

Let this serve as both a warning and a call to action. We are watching with keen interest, as we will not allow our labour to go down the drain, your actions and inactions to engage lobbyists working in your interests through internal mechanism of the party are laid bare and all who participate in the exercise will get their names written in the history book of our great party.

The era of transactional politics must end. The future demands integrity.

Labour Party (LP) Zones 2027 Presidential Ticket To Southern Nigeria As Bayelsa State High Court dismissed Abure's Chairmen Application

Usman

The Nigeria's opposition Labour Party (LP)  has Zones 2027 Presidential Ticket to Southern Nigeria as the party rescheduled it's earlier Congresses And National convention till further notice after setting up the conversation central planning committee.

The national interim Chairman of the party Senator Nenadi Usman confirmed that its 2027 presidential ticket will be zoned to southern Nigeria, ruling out aspirants from the Northern geopolitical Zones.

Usman made the announcement during a recent interview, as the party prepares for the next general elections in 2027.

She also addressed a court case filed by some state chairmen under the former Acting National Chairman, Julius Abure whose tenure expired on 8th June 2024 and was sacked by the Supreme Court Judgement of 4th April 2025 in Suit No: SC/CV/56/2025

Usman noted that their suit was challenging the dissolution of the illegal and voided congresses of December 2025 by the national executive council (NEC) conducted by Abure and his expired executives who had no Jurisdiction.

Nenadi said that the Yenagoa, Bayelsa state High Court dismissed the applicants suit for lacking merit. Nenadi explained that the court reviewed the matter filed by the claimants as lacking in Jurisdiction and ruled in favor of her National Executives whom the Court noted were on the side of truth, legality and party integrity.

On the party congress scheduled for March 26 - 31, 2026 and national convention earlier slated for 11th April, 2026, Usman revealed that the growing number of new members informed the desires for the earlier date to be adjusted.

She stressed that the decision for the new date would be made collectively to ensure internal democracy and fair participation, noting that the party prioritizes proper representation over sticking rigidly to dates.

Regarding presidential aspirants, Usman stated that the Labour Party does not actively solicit candidates. Interested aspirants must voluntarily choose to run under the LP platform, and the winner of the internal primaries will be the candidate.

She emphasized that the zoning decision ensures the next presidential candidate will come from southern Nigeria strictly.

When asked about former leaders such as Peter Obi, Usman said they have expressed no intention to return, and the party respects their decision.

She also confirmed that a petition has been filed with the Nigerian Police regarding recent attacks on party's national secretariat on 10th February, 2026 and members of the party's security guards, assuring that perpetrators will be held accountable as a deterrent.

Usman’s statements reinforced the Labour Party’s commitment to internal democracy, political offices and regional zoning, and organizational growth as it positions itself for the 2027 elections, while maintaining credibility amid rising membership and legal scrutiny.
