Tehran Rejects Washington's Claims on Strait of Hormuz Re-opening

The Islamic Republic of Iran has rejected the US Treasury Sec. Bessent's and Donald Trump's claims that the Strait of Hormuz will open tomorrow (Wednesday 5th August 2026) under a new deal

Tehran affirmed that the Iran-Oman Hormuz negotiations, held without US participation, are instead aimed at establishing an "intermediate corridor" that will halt both the current Iran-controlled northern and US-backed southern routes, giving Iran as a coastal state fully protected sovereignty, interests, and national security, Press TV reported.

 "Trump has violated his commitments, and Iran is moving forward with its plan to establish arrangements in the Strait independently of US threats, and it will succeed." 

 "Iran does not shape its interests and priorities based on schedule or demands of Trump."

The agreement with Oman would grant Iran total sovereign authority over all inbound maritime traffic, with Oman's limited role being to clear outbound vessels but only after notifying Iranian officials, ensuring Iran retains visibility and the option to intervene

American President Donald Trump sets a new deadline, giving Iran until the end of today to finalize a Strait of Hormuz agreement with Oman or face "devastating air strikes," per Bloomberg.

Trump adds "I want to give them every last chance before decapitation... You'll find out today."

The agreement with Oman however would not be something that Trump wants, a senior Iranian official tells reporters it would grant Iran total sovereign authority over all inbound maritime traffic, and Oman would clear outbound vessels only after notifying Iranian officials, ensuring Iran retains visibility and the option to intervene.

An Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday talks with Oman over transit in the Strait of Hormuz are ongoing, according to state media

"Talks with Oman are “positive” at the technical and political levels", the spokesperson says

Talks are focused on designating safe inbound and outbound lanes in the strait, he added

Iran's Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile

As per the U.S. blockade against Iran.  American forces claimed they have redirected 45 commercial vessels, disabled 2 and boarded 2 to ensure compliance.

Tehran sources indicated that Iran's Armed Forces may soon Deploy their significant Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile arsenal against US Warships to Break the Naval Blockade.

These Iranian Missiles have not yet been Used in the current War.

All options to compelling Iran to American and Israeli terms in the needless aggression have failed to yield any positive results.

Iran's Foreign Ministry says Iranian, Omani deputy foreign ministers meet on Strait of Hormuz management

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei announced that several rounds of talks between Iran and Oman were held in Tehran on Friday and Saturday at the level of deputy foreign ministers on the Strait of Hormuz management.

According to the reports, the two sides exchanged views on common principles and operational mechanisms for managing safe maritime transit in the Strait of Hormuz, respecting the sovereign rights of both coastal states .

Baghaei described the talks as "useful" with progress made. The Omani delegation left -Tehran on Saturday evening, but technical and political consultations continue .

Responding to a question on the strait's current status, Baghaei confirmed that "no change has occurred in the traffic situation".

He said "the talks were useful and progress was made" and "technical and political consultations" between the two sides are still ongoing.

Certain sources claimed that American troops stopped missiles strikes against Iran as a result of the Oman delegations that were in Tehran. However, the more reality may be that the US central command has run out of weapons and ammunition. US has consistently request for a Ceasefire in the past week that iran rejected.

Another sources confirmed that CENTCOM chief Admiral Brad Cooper recommended halting US strikes around the Strait of Hormuz, saying the campaign had reached the limit of its effectiveness, Axios reports, citing two sources familiar with the matter

 Cooper’s recommendation, alongside advice from other officials, influenced Trump’s decision to pause strikes against Iran on Friday

 Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine warned that interceptor shortages could hamper efforts to protect US forces in the region


Iran halted its attacks after the United States stopped its strikes for the past two nights, Iranian army spokesman said on Sunday.


“Americans stopped their attacks over the past two nights. Since our strategy has been entirely retaliatory, we also stopped our retaliatory operations,” Amir Akraminia said.


The spokesman also said US officials appeared divided and lacked a clear strategy, citing remarks by US President Donald Trump and the actions of US Central Command.

“The US strategy is unclear even to the country’s own officials. This is evident in the remarks of US officials, particularly the US president, as well as in the actions of US Central Command,” Akraminia said.


He warned that continued US strikes would expand the war, saying the conflict had already spread to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. That is where the Iranian proxy in Yemen are full operation against Saudi Arabia.

A US Senator Bernie Sanders called on the Trump administration to negotiate with Iran to end the war, saying talks were needed to “stop the killing” and limit economic damage.

“That’s what we’ve got to do: Sit down and negotiate, and let’s end this war,” the independent senator from Vermont said on CBS’s Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan.

According to Al Arabiya source, Tehran has confirmed to Pakistan its readiness to continue negotiations with the US in Geneva, Doha or Islamabad, a source tells

Iran in a message to Pakistan said the negotiations must continue in accordance with the memorandum of understanding, according to the source

Iranians are seeking the resumption of talks first on the Strait of Hormuz, then on its frozen assets, and finally on its nuclear program, the source added.


The Persians also informed Pakistan that iran rejects the creation of a new corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, the source added

The Iran–U.S. negotiations are scheduled for Friday in Oman.

COVID-19: Spain, Bahrain, Oman confirm more cases

Spanish health authorities have identified a case of coronavirus in Catalonia on Tuesday, the first case in mainland Spain, according to the La Vanguardia newspaper.

The case is the country's fourth after three infected tourists from Germany, Italy and Britain were detected in the Canary Islands and in Mallorca.

In the middle east, Oman has identified two new cases of coronavirus, while Bahrain has confirmed nine new cases, the two countries health ministries reported.

Both Bahrain and Oman reported their first cases on Monday.

Earlier in Spain, hundreds of people were confined to their rooms at a Tenerife hotel Tuesday after an Italian tourist was hospitalised with a suspected case of coronavirus, health officials in the Canary Islands said.

"Hundreds of hotel clients are being monitored for health reasons and the degree of supervision will be assessed during the day, but so far, we're not talking about quarantine," health authority spokeswoman Veronica Martin told AFP, confirming that the Italian tourist "was staying at this hotel while on holiday in Tenerife".

COVID-19: Oman Reports First 2 Cases

As Oman witnesses first two cases of the novel coronavirus (nCoV) on Monday, the country puts a halt to all flights to Iran, reports AFP.

Oman on Monday reported its first two cases of coronavirus, and halted flights to and from Iran with immediate effect, authorities and reports said. 

Two Omani women who had returned from Iran -- which is battling the deadliest outbreak outside China -- were diagnosed with the disease and were in a stable condition, state TV reported.

The civil aviation authority said in a tweet that it was "suspending all civilian flights between the sultanate and the Islamic Republic of Iran starting today and until further notice".
