Forgery, Perjury Allegations Rock Osogbo as Police Probe Lawyer Over Disputed Land Title
DD Wednesday, February 25, 2026 No commentsForgery, Perjury Allegations Rock Osogbo as Police Probe Lawyer Over Disputed Land Title
An Osogbo-based lawyer, Mr. Muyideen Adeoye Galadima, is at the centre of a police investigation as operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Zone XI Zonal Command Headquarters, Osogbo, probe allegations of forgery, impersonation, and perjury over a land title document said to belong to the late legal practitioner, Barrister Tunji Abolade.
Galadima is reportedly accused of unlawfully converting a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) belonging to the deceased legal luminary and laying claim to a judgment land adjudged to Madam Sinatu Adeoye.
He is further alleged to have acted in connivance with a NIPCO filling station, the Alare-Iyiolu family, and others — including Olugbenga Aro, Latona Olaiya Tajudeen, and Alhaji Waheed Raheem — whom he allegedly induced to depose to an oath before a Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo in Suit No: FHC/OS/CS/23/2026, claiming ownership of the disputed documents.
The land dispute dates back to the 1970s and concerns a vast expanse of land owned by Madam Sinatu Adeoye.
The property stretches along both sides of the Osogbo–Ikirun Road, covering areas such as Powerline, Omidiran Garden, Iyana Camp, Biket Junction Area, and Ifesowapo Community, sharing boundaries with Bidire and adjoining communities.
Investigations reveal that the dispute led to two major court actions at the State High Court in Osogbo.
In Suit No: HOS/102/80, instituted by Shittu Ladimeji & 3 Ors. on behalf of the Iyiolu Alare Family of Osogbo against Madam Sinatu Adeoye, the court declared Adeoye the lawful and genuine owner of the land — including the parcel housing the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Osogbo.
Following their loss in 1982, the Iyiolu Alare family allegedly engaged Hephzibah Holdings Limited, an estate firm owned by Deji Olugunna, to sell the same land through a Power of Attorney, despite the subsisting judgment affirming Adeoye’s ownership.
Madam Sinatu Adeoye subsequently challenged the move, asserting that the land had originally been allocated to her late father, Akande Adeoye, by Oba Bamgbola of Iyadudu Royal Family of Osogbo, and that she remains the sole surviving heir.
The dispute culminated in a second action — Suit No: HOS/71/1993 between Hephzibah Holdings Limited v. Madam Sinatu Adeoye & 4 Ors. In her counterclaim, Adeoye clearly delineated the boundaries of her land before the court.
Due to heightened tension surrounding the matter, the presiding judge, Hon. Justice R.O. Yusuf, visited the locus in quo to physically ascertain the land’s location and boundaries.
The court ultimately dismissed Hephzibah Holdings Limited’s claims, awarded costs of N2,000 against the company, and ruled decisively in favour of Madam Sinatu Adeoye.
The court granted her declaratory judgment, affirming that her counterclaim succeeded and that the survey plans tendered in both Suit Nos: HOS/102/80 and HOS/71/1993 did not exhaust the full extent of her vast landholding along the Osogbo–Ikirun Road.
The ongoing police probe reportedly stems from a petition dated February 10, 2026, signed by Barrister Lekan Alabi and addressed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone XI, Osogbo.
The petition, titled:“Complaint of Conspiracy, Fraudulent Conversion, Perjury, Forgery, Stealing, Impersonation and Contempt”,names several individuals, including Mr. Gbenga Aro, Mr. Latona Olaiya Tajudeen, Alhaji Waheed Raheem (alias Odua), Pa Adeyanju Busari Hamzat, Mr. Sarafa Omidiji, Muili Folorunsho, Mr. Muniru Saka, and Mr. Muyideen Adeoye Galadima, among others described as judgment debtors and illegal occupants.
According to the petition, various alleged illegal occupants have been presenting different documents purportedly claiming ownership of portions of the judgment land, allegedly facilitated by Galadima through forged title documents.
The petition further alleges that these actions emboldened parties linked to the NIPCO Filling Station to demolish a warehouse under construction beside the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) office, near Biket Junction along the Osogbo–Ikirun Road.
Additionally, Galadima and his associates are alleged to have filed multiple applications before Osun State High Courts seeking to set aside the February 26, 1997 High Court judgment, rather than approaching the appellate court if dissatisfied with the ruling on the judgment creditor’s land.
Meanwhile, the complainant has urged the police to prosecute the matter upon completion of a thorough and diligent investigation.
As the investigation unfolds, the case is expected to test the integrity of land administration, judicial finality, and professional ethics within the legal community in Osogbo and beyond.

PRESS RELEASE: LABOUR PARTY HOLDS RECONCILIATION MEETING IN OGUN STATE, MOVES TOWARD UNITY
DD Tuesday, February 24, 2026 No commentsPRESS RELEASE: LABOUR PARTY HOLDS RECONCILIATION MEETING IN OGUN STATE, MOVES TOWARD UNITY
Date: 24th February,2026
Venue:NLC State Secretariat, Abeokuta
The Ogun State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP) wishes to inform the general public and our esteemed members of a significant development in our efforts to foster unity and strengthen the party ahead of future electoral challenges.
Following the recent judgments of the Court of Appeal, the leadership of our great party, under the distinguished leadership of the Deputy National Chairman (South), Mrs. Temidayo Nike Oriola Job, convened a crucial reconciliation meeting with stakeholders in Ogun State. The meeting, held on 19th February,2026, brought together members of the Ogun State Interim Executive and other party faithful who, subsequent to the court rulings, have aligned with the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Executive Committee (NEC).
During the session, it was acknowledged that there were periods of intense legal battles where party members found themselves on different sides, as well as others who left the fold to aligned with other political party. It was noted that some members who are now converts to the Nenadi Usman-led Exco had, during the heat of the court cases, reported their fellow party members to security agencies (including the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services) for impersonation, even as the now-dispersed Julius Abure leadership for declaring support for the Nenadi Usman faction.
In her characteristic spirit of inclusive leadership, the Deputy National Chairman (South), Mrs. Temidayo Nike Oriola, urged all parties to embrace one another and bury the hatchet. She emphasized that the Labour Party must move beyond the acrimony of the past and present a united front to the people of Ogun State.
As a concrete step towards enduring peace, the leadership has directed that a harmonized reconciliation committee be formed. Both sides involved in the dispute have been mandated to submit a list of nine (9) members each, making a total of eighteen (18) members. This committee will be inaugurated to oversee the formal reconciliation process and ensure that all grievances are permanently laid to rest.
As the Publicity Secretary of the Ogun State Labour Party, I urge all our members to cooperate with this initiative. The Labour Party remains the vehicle for the hopes and aspirations of the masses, and we cannot afford to be distracted by internal conflicts. We are committed to rebuilding, reconciling, and emerging stronger.
We thank our leaders, members, and the press for their continued support.

HOLD ON TO YOUR FOLD: PRESUMED C'OALITION IS NOT A MERGER — SOUTHWEST LP LEADERS
DD Saturday, January 03, 2026 No commentsHOLD ON TO YOUR FOLD: PRESUMED C'OALITION IS NOT A MERGER — SOUTHWEST LP LEADERS
The leadership of the Labour Party in the SouthWest of Nigeria in an emergency meeting held on January 1st of this year, after keenly and carefully reviewing the most recent happening in the party concluded that though the leadership might be aware of the political talks in-between her former presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi, and wishes him success in his political aspirations,, that does not predetermined the fact that the Labour Party as a political party had an agreement with any political party to an extent of throwing away the party's identity and ideology to the waste bin. The region believes a political coalition is when parties coalesce and synergies to amass political gains at each others' interests and not at the detriment of one coalition partner's interest, as such should be led by party leadership not individual for personal interest or gains.
Here is the communique released at the end of the meeting: Labour Party South West Leadership Official Communiqué (Jan 1, 2026)
'"On Thursday, January 1, 2026, the Labour Party leadership in the South West convened an emergency strategic meeting to address the party’s deepening internal crisis especially in light of Peter Obi’s defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), along with other senior party officials.
The meeting resolved the following key points:
1. Information Flow from National Office: We demand immediate, transparent communication from the national leadership. The South West must never be left guessing where our leaders stand on national political issues. No more silence before decisions are made.
2. Nenadi Usman’s Stance & Interim Committees: the Nenadi Usman-led Labour Party fully endorses Obi’s move to the African Democratic Congress ADC. That it was pre-approved and strategic, not a betrayal. However, we insist on clarifying how this affects state-level interim committees. Also, Inaugurate the Interim State Working Committee ISWC NOW. No further delays. Restart membership validation drives across all states.
3. Rebuilding Party Structures: the crisis exposed weak ward, LGA, and state structures. The going forward is to stabilize first, then build. Coordinate logistics/materials for grassroots reactivation.
4. Alliances & Ideological Integrity: We support strategic coalitions with other parties but never at the cost of the Labour Party’s identity, foundation, or ideology. Any alliance must serve Nigerians, not just ambition.
5. Defining Leadership Direction: The National office must issue clear, binding directives to regional/state leaders on post-Obi exit. There has to be no more confusion. However, one voice. One plan. Especially ahead of the Jan 19 court judgment.
6. Impending Court Judgment (Jan 19): This date is critical, and the outcome will determine the legitimacy of Usman vs Abure leadership. Also, determine the legal standing of Obi’s ADC move and the future of LP’s national structure.
7. Guarding the Party: the diehard members must protect LP from opportunists and political merchants exploiting the chaos. Ŵe have to stay vigilant, and steadfast.
8. United South West Front: the South West leaders must speak with ONE voice united, unequivocal, and formidable. We have to present a clear, collective position on all political complexities.
9. Membership Drive & Revalidation: the earlier the better we immediately launch, coordinate, and start registration/revalidation. We suggest we go digital cum physical channels. And mainly we target youth, women at home, and in the diaspora.
10. Logistics & Materials Chart: There is a strong need to draft a state-by-state plan for the registration kits, banners, and flyers. While doing this we have to consider mobilizer transport, data capture technology, and security. Moreover, the timeline is significant probably 2 weeks to rollout, 4 weeks to complete the exercise.
Expectations:
The South West leadership’s resolve is crystal clear: we stand firmly behind Senator Nenadi Esther Usman’s Labour Party however that loyalty hinges on bridging the communication chasm and getting real-time, actionable direction from the national office. We’re not just pledging support; we’re demanding clarity, responsiveness, and accountability especially on the 10 critical points raised in our Jan 1 meeting. Until the national leadership treats us as partners not spectators our solidarity remains conditional. Let’s turn talk; into action: respond, implement, and rebuild together."

In a remarkable display of resilience and strategic acumen, Apagun Olaolu Samuel has successfully retained his position as the leader of the Labour Party in Ogun State, overcoming significant challenges and opposition. This remarkable achievement underscores his commitment to the party's principles, pragmatic leadership style, political sagacity, broad based support and the trust placed in him by party members.
Navigating a Tumultuous Landscape
The political landscape in Ogun State has been anything but stable in recent months. Faced with internal disputes, rival factions, and external pressures, many anticipated a shift in leadership that could complicate the party's objectives. However, Samuel's steady hand and unwavering dedication to the Labour Party's vision have proven instrumental in maintaining unity and direction within the organization.
Building Bridges and Fostering Unity
One of Samuel’s key strategies in retaining leadership has been his focus on coalition-building and dialogue. Understanding the importance of inclusivity, he actively engaged with party members, listened to their concerns, and worked to address division within the ranks. By fostering an environment of open communication, Samuel has not only strengthened party cohesion but also reinstated confidence among stakeholders and supporters, honouring patriots and carpeting traitors and the neck deep transactional leaders
A Commitment to Grassroots Mobilization

Recognizing that the strength of the Labour Party lies in its connection to the community, being a community development practitioner and an advocate for grassroots mobilisation, he spearheaded initiatives aimed at empowering local party structures and enhancing voter engagement. His outreach programs have resonated with constituents, reinforcing the party's relevance in an increasingly competitive political arena.
Overcoming Challenges with Strategic Vision
Throughout his tenure, Samuel has faced numerous challenges, including skepticism from political rivals who sought to undermine his leadership, having gone through the thick and thin, passing through the valleys of the shadows of death, his firmness stood him out. Despite this, he managed to leverage his experience and vision to navigate complex political waters. His ability to articulate the Labour Party's agenda effectively has galvanized support for him both local and at the national space, having drawn in new members, bolstering the party's appeal across different demographics, and has proven himself as an _Apagun-Pọ̀tẹ̀_ indeed
Impact on Ogun State Politics
Samuel’s retention of leadership has significant implications for the future of the Labour Party in Ogun State. By staying true to the party’s core values—such as social justice, equity, and transparency—he is positioned to steer the party toward greater electoral success in upcoming elections. To Senator Nenadi Usman: Petition Against Hon. Seyi Showunmi’s Unilateral Actions in the Southwest Region

*Petition Against Hon. Seyi Showunmi’s Unilateral Actions in the Southwest Region*
Dear Madam,
I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the unilateral political activities of Hon. Seyi Showunmi within the Southwest region. It has come to my attention that he has been nominating members of the interim national working committee for the Southwest without proper consultation, with the exception of Ogun State, which has been an integral part of our party from the beginning.
Furthermore, it is alarming that he is also presenting nominations for the state working committees without engaging with key stakeholders and local party members. He claims to represent the Southwest leadership of the Labour Party, yet his actions suggest a self-serving agenda which undermines our democratic principles.
His antecedents in Lagos are also a clear example of his undemocratic tendencies.
If these actions continue unchecked, we risk creating a similar situation to that of Abayomi Arabambi, wherein one individual manipulates the party framework to benefit personal interests rather than those of all party members throughout the region. It is crucial to note that Hon. Showunmi’s jurisdiction is limited primarily to his role as a House of Representatives member in the OJO Constituency in Lagos. His attempts to exert influence across the Southwest should be scrutinized before he succeeds in destabilizing the Party.
We urge the national body to take immediate action to address these issues and ensure a fair and representative process for all nominations within the Labour Party in the Southwest. It is essential that we uphold the core values of democracy, inclusivity, and collaboration that our party represents.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your prompt response.

TINUBU'S LIES AT OLUBADAN CORONATION: THE ECONOMY HAS TURNED THE CORNER, THERE'S LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL, APPRECIATES NIGERIANS FOR THEIR SUPPORT IN SUFFERING
DD Friday, September 26, 2025 No commentsTINUBU'S LIES AT OLUBADAN CORONATION: THE ECONOMY HAS TURNED THE CORNER, THERE'S LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL, APPRECIATES NIGERIANS FOR THEIR SUPPORT IN SUFFERING
As Nigerians are still wallowing in abject poverty occasioned by APC misrule since 2016, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, on Friday in Ibadan, Oyo State spews fresh Lies that the economy of the country has turned the corner for good, following the success of the economic reforms introduced by his administration over two years ago.
Under Bola Ahmed Tinubu's reckless leadership, it has been maximum pains for greater numbers of the citizens.
Tinubu whose government has continues the Buhari's legacy of maladministration assured Nigerians that they would soon begin to enjoy the fruits of the reforms and thanked them for their patience and support in suffering while looting and more borrowing for looting are still ongoing.
The President spoke on Friday at the coronation of his friend and political ally, Imperial Majesty Oba (Sen) Abdul-Rashidi Adewolu Akanmu Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
He said: "Today, I am honoured to bring the cheering news that our economy has turned around and there is now light at the end of the tunnel.''
Nigeria’s economy has “bounced back” and was on the path of growth and prosperity, despite the widespread hardship, hunger, and inflation ravaging the country under his watch.
Tinubu told the gathering that the country had weathered the storm of economic collapse and was now moving toward recovery.
“To many of you here present, today I am honoured and I’m very proud to give you the cheering news that the economy has turned the corner. There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel,” Tinubu said.
He likened Nigerians’ current suffering under his economic reforms to the pain of a “surgery,” insisting the sacrifices would eventually produce growth and prosperity while every senator and house of representatives members quarterly received nothing less than a billion naira.
The looting under APC leadership since 2015 till date is second to none in our history.
“Your suffering is the pain of a painful surgery. But it is now returned to the moment of growth and prosperity waiting for us ahead. Thank you for your perseverance. Thank you for your endurance,” Tinubu declared.
Speaking about the new Olubadan, Tinubu said: "All the things we started together with great expectations, and the history we shared are coming to pass. I pray that you will live long and be celebrated as one of the rare leaders in history to ascend the throne of your forefathers.
"I pray that God will grant you more years of joy, prosperity and relevance,'' the President said.
He aid that the Olubadan of Ibadanland played a significant role in Nigeria's political history, and had remained a pillar of hope through the experiences of impeachment, perseverance and resilience as a former governor of the state.
He thanked all the former and serving governors, the traditional rulers, for attending the coronation.
"It is a joy and great excitement for us. I appreciate you all. As for me, this is homecoming,'' he stated.
Anyone still keeping any hope in Tinubu's renewed pains has no hope!

"We the appointed state executives of Oyo state Obidient Movement strongly refute claims that Ayo Akinyemi is leading the Obidient Movement in Oyo State. The anchor's decision to recognize him as coordinator in the recent Zoom meeting (2/7/2025) was a grave error.
We hereby clarify that Ayo Akinyemi is an impostor and does not represent the legitimate leadership of the Obidient Movement in Oyo State. After the election, his group shifted allegiance to Abure's leadership, rebranding themselves as *'LabourObidient Movement',* and stood apart from our structure. They only realigned when they saw the poster for the Southwest Conference on our joint platform, but have since struggled to fully commit.
Despite our appointed Excos' repeated invitations to meetings to synergize, they've refused to participate. Following Hon Dele Abiola's appointment to the Advisory Council and later as Oyo State Interim Coordinator, the Akinyemi-led Excos have been attempting to create a parallel structure, opposing his leadership. Notably, they're still working with Oyo LP Chairman Alh Sodiq Atayese, who openly defected/aligned with PDP in the last gubernatorial election. It is also note worthy that they worked for APC Presidential candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu through Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
Moreover, his speech in the meeting clearly showed he's uninformed about the current state of the Obidient Movement in the state, further disqualifying him from any legitimate leadership role. We urge all members and concerned leaders to disregard his claims and any directives emanating from him."

SOUN OF OGBOMOSHO LAND COMMISSIONS 5-STAR HOTEL, INNOVATION HUB , SAYS THIS JUST THE BEGINNING
DD Sunday, June 15, 2025 No commentsSOUN OF OGBOMOSHO LAND COMMISSIONS 5-STAR HOTEL, INNOVATION HUB , SAYS THIS JUST THE BEGINNING
Femi OGUNLANA
The vision to transform Ogbomoso into a model city receives further boost Saturday as two hubs of economic activities were proudly commissioned in the city by the Soun, His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III.
The two centres, the Dreamz Suites & Hotels and Ennovate Lab, are both situated along old Ilorin road.
Commissioning the hotel located at a prime area in Aroje, the Soun enthused it was the beginning of great, amazing things to come to Ogbomoso. He said the project which began before his enthronement was almost abandoned but that his efforts in canvassing Ogbomoso people in the diaspora to return home to establish businesses revived the interest of the US-based owner, Mr. Olufemi Leke, assuring the gateway of developments is being opened and will lead to the desired transformation.
“I am happy to be here,” Oba Olaoye had stated. “This is dream come true. We first met in New York some years ago and he shared this dream but he was not enthusiastic again so to say. But l told him l would be Oba and l would commission the hotel. That gave the needed spark to completing the project.
“I believe this is the beginning of several things that will happen in Ogbomoso. We are just starting, more amazing things will come up in this town.”
He now told the hotel CEO, “You are an inspiration, l can tell you l am impressed.”
The traditional ruler, a businessman himself, advised the hotelier to maintain high standards, have zero tolerance for fraudulent staff and to try as much as possible to make transactions cashless to reduce sharp practices. He however urged him to pay his staff well and learn to compensate them.
“Maintain high standard, have zero tolerance for fraudulent practices, make transactions as cashless as possible and pay your workers well. Compensate diligence, let them feel the impact of the business doing well. Engage them, don’t do master-servant relationship but relate with them with honours. Maintaining standards is a difficult thing but it is not an impossible thing,” Oba Olaoye said.
The hotelier, Mr. Femi Leke, thanking the Oba, said he had been impressed by Oba Olaoye since the first time he got introduced to him in New York, USA, informing many Ogbomoso indigenes in the diaspora have bought into the idea of investing at home. “I can tell you we have a whole army coming over. That is what we in the diaspora discuss nowadays,” he confidently stated.
Writing on the event later the Soun in a social media post stated, “This morning, I was filled with joy as I and my entourage was at the grand opening of Dreamz Suites & Hotel in Ogbomoso.
“What makes this moment special is not just the beauty of the structure, but the heart behind it. I met the visionary behind the hotel in New York while sharing my 25-year developmental blueprint for Ogbomosoland — and he caught the vision. He wasn’t just inspired to build a hotel… he was moved to build excellence.
“Today, I saw excellence. I was deeply impressed by the standard — it speaks of the Ogbomoso we are building together: world-class, forward-thinking, and rooted in values.
“This is just the beginning of what’s coming to Ogbomosoland. We are attracting visionaries, builders, and doers. Ogbomoso is rising — and everyone who aligns with purpose, discipline, and excellence will rise with it.”
Also speaking at the commissioning of the Ennovate Lab located at the former Coca cola depot near LAUTECH, the Soun assured the founders, “We will support your vision.” He reiterated more “amazing things” are coming to the town.
Ennovate lab, founded in November 2017 by four friends, Jesudamilare Adesegun-David, Chima Omike, Pelumi Igunnubolei and Ijeoma Nwawka, is an innovation hub that seeks to promote innovation and enterprise thinking and success in underserved university communities, according to information gleaned from its website.
It further states, “Our vision is captured within these three prongs: Innovation Hub, Startup Foundry and Seed Fund.
“As an innovation hub, we are committed to building resilient innovation ecosystems in underserved university communities. As a startup foundry, we build borderless solutions for communities by communities and as a seed fund, we reach beyond our portcos to become the first to write cheques for promising startups in our host communities.”
This is as it stresses, “Our goal is to decentralize and democratize access to opportunity and resources in underserved communities by leveraging assets within those communities especially their human capital and the presence of university institutions.”
It will promote such values as creativity, empathy, camaraderie, integrity, inclusiveness and grit.
Volunteers, developers, storytellers, creative designers, urban agriculturist, online community managers, social media managers, content creators are part of the centre’s human resources and it has hubs in the US, UK and some other Western countries.
A representative of the organisation challenged Ogbomoso people to “keep this movement going in Ogbomoso. Build the community together, invest here together. By this, employment will be created in Ogbomoso, businesses will come and thrive.”
Recall that in recent times businesses are springing up in the town among which are the opening of a depot of Prestige Paints Lagos, and the inauguration of Yajifarz Foundation Cup, which is ongoing with the sponsor saying he is working on bringing his business to Ogbomoso as well. There have been other developmental projects like the plan to set up a large-hectared sweet potato farm, road constructions, establishment of a monothecnic on cultural studies and so on.
ogbomosoinsightonline.com can authoritatively state other “goodies” are on their way to the ancient town.

Dear Editor, Hot News Naija,
I'm Abiodun Adediran from Ogbomoso. I'm writing to highlight concerns regarding the Oyo State Youth Award, a subsection of the Oyo State Youth Summit 2025, powered by the Ministry of Youths and Sport under Hon. Wasilat Adegoke's leadership.
Despite garnering 1,509 votes (36%) in the Governance category, I was unfairly overlooked, and the award was given to my closest contender with 1,138 votes (27%) without justification.
I respectfully request that you consider publishing this matter to:
1. Expose irregularities in the award process
2. Advocate for a review of the decision
3. Support young people's rights to participate in governance and leadership
This issue affects not just me, but the broader Oyo State youth community, who deserve fair representation.
Thank you for considering my request.
Attached is the final result as at when the voting ends on the 18th of April 2025.
Sincerely,
Abiodun Adediran

Quadri Alabi, Teen Who Stood In Front of Peter Obi 's Convoy Regains Freedom From Kirikiri Months After Being Framed For Armed Rubbery By Lagos Police — Lawyer
Latest News Plus Thursday, April 17, 2025 No commentsQuadri Alabi, Teen Who Stood In Front of Peter Obi 's Convoy Regains Freedom From Kirikiri Months After Being Framed For Armed Rubbery By Lagos Police — Lawyer
Demands #100m Compensation
The lawyer to the illegally detained teen Quadri Alabi, Barrister Inibehe Effiong ESQ said the teen has regain his freedom.
Inibehe on a social media post confirmed his released from Kirikiri. Demanded for a compensation of #100m from the Lagos State Police.
Quadri Alabi, the teen who stood in front of the campaign convoys of the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections Peter Obi was detained by the Lagos Police command on an aledged rubbery case.
According to Inibehe: "We are excited to announce that Quadri Yusuf Alabi, the 17-year old teenager who gained fame during the 2023 elections after he spontaneously jumped and stood in front of the convoy of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi has been freed by the court today, 17th April, 2025."
"Our client, Quadri was abducted by two ‘Area Boys’ who are notoriously known in the community as Lege and Baba Waris close to his family residence at Amukoko, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area and dumped at the Amukoko Divisional Police Headquarters (Pako Police Station) in Lagos State."
"Quadri was returning from work when he was grabbed by the duo, who along with other jealous and entitled Area Boys in the community, have been harassing him and threatening to deal with him since 2023 for not giving them ‘their share’ of donations gifted him during the last elections period.'
"Quadri’s family informed us that the Baale of the community equally pressured them to buy a cow and rice and cook for the community to appease the Area Boys."
"The abductors initially told the officers at Amukoko Police Station that our client was involved in street fighting.'
"To the consternation of Quadri and his family, the police on 26th January, 2025 took Quadri before a Magistrate in Apapa, and obtained an order remanding him at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri on a trumped-up charge of armed robbery."
"The police fraudulently joined Quadri with four strange adults who had no form of connection or relationship whatsoever with him and claimed that the four strange men were his case mates."
"As part of the diabolical frame-up of our client, the officers at Amukoko Police Station also misrepresented his age to be 18, knowing that disclosing his actual age would likely raise eyebrows."
"When we were briefed by Quadri’s mother a week ago, after the matter was brought to public attention by Ms. Hassana Nurudeen, the Co-founder of Ray of Hope Prison Outreach, we swiftly escalated the case and took necessary steps towards securing his freedom."
"At the Court today, the presiding Magistrate, His Honour, A. O. Olorunfemi (Mrs.), confirmed that the legal advice issued by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), of the Ministry of Justice, Lagos State, Dr. Babajide Martins showed that there was no evidence to substantiate the allegation of armed robbery against Quadri."
"In his Legal Advice, the DPP recommended the non-prosecution of Quadri. Thus, the presiding Magistrate discharged him and he was accordingly freed."
"We commend the DPP for standing by the truth in this matter."
"We demand that the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, and the Inspector General of Police, should as a matter of urgency, remove the DPO of Amukoko Divisional Headquarters and subject him to orderly room trial along with the IPO, one Inspector Odigbe Samuel, and other officers who participated in this evil, sinister, oppressive, and corrupt scheme of framing-up a teenager for armed robbery at the behest of rogue ‘Area Boys’."
"We demand that the Nigeria Police Force should pay the sum of One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000.00) to our client as compensation.'
"Also, we also demand a public apology from the police."
"If the above three remedial demands are not fully complied with immediately, we shall initiate legal actions to seek redress."
"Quadri’s case is a painful example of the putrefying corruption, monstrous impunity, and pervasive injustice in the Nigeria Police Force."
"There are many Quadris languishing in detention centres across Nigeria because of the unbridled criminality, lawlessness, and lack of accountability in the Police institution and the weakness of the justice system."
"History will vindicate the just." Inibehe concluded.
