The Ekiti State Election Tribunal, which later sat in Abuja owing problem of insecurity in Ekiti, delivered judgement on January 28, affirming the victory of Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election.
The petitioners – the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the election, Kolapo Olusola – against whom the judgement went, appealed.
The appeal was heard on Monday and judgement reserved.
It was learnt that parties were informed on Wednesday that the judgement will be delivered by 6 pm today.
Supporters of both camps and their lawyers are currently waiting at the Court of Appeal, Abuja for delivery of the judgement.
The Court of Appeal, describing the appeal as “unmeritorious,” the leading Judge, Justice Adah affirmed the July 28, 2019 judgement of the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which had upheld Fayemi’s victory at the poll.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared that Dr. Kayode Fayemi and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled a total of 197,459 votes to defeated Eleka and the PDP who placed second with 178,121 votes in the July 14, 2018 election.
