SOWORE’S RELEASE - AAC COMMENDS NIGERIANS

Omoyel Sowore During a court hearing session
The Oyo state chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) has commended Nigerians who stood solidly behind the party and the Take It Back Movement (TIB) in demanding an unconditional release of the party's national leader and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, who had been granted bail by the court since October 4, 2019 but only released on December 24, 2019 after spending almost 5 months in unlawful detention of the Buhari-led increasing dictatorial regime.

The statement signed by the state Chairman Comrade Ogunlana Rotime Jacob and the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state Comrade Teju Ajibowo said the convener of the Revolution Now Movement specifically asked the party leaders to specially thank all AAC & TIB members in Oyo State for their unwavering support.

According to the founder of SaharaReporters, the take it back (TIB) journey for a better Nigeria started in Oyo State. The first town hall meeting was held in Ibadan on April 6, 2018 and still remained the stronghold of AAC and TIB in Nigeria.

The Party therefore urged members to be careful of traitors who have been using the great party to negotiate with politicians.

Sowore commends all for staying strong, true and committed to the struggle for a better Nigeria. He said he is fully aware and greatly appreciates all efforts in galvanizing ourselves, the people of Oyo State and Nigerians at large to secure his release.

The Oyo state chapter however reiterates its support for Omoyele Sowore in his quest to lead Nigerians out of a system of oppression, poverty and hopelessness to a Nigeria of peace, prosperity and progress. Adding that he (Sowore) founded AAC based on a sound ideology and he remains the national leader/Chairman, any other person parading himself as one is either money induced or a political jobber.

The Party statement said the release of Sowore has shown that oppression will continue to thrive as long as the people permit it and that there is no stronger force than a people united.

Nigerians should know that the battle for a better country is far from over and we encourage them to continue to speak out and hold their government accountable until poor governance and its ills is stamped out of our socio-political and economic space. the statement concluded.
