Nnamdi would escape from Nigeria despite the lockdown by Nigerian Army and all the intelligence services and he showed up in Israel at the Wailing Wall. He has since returned to London where he continues to say things that Sowore would never be caught saying about Nigeria. Sowore and Ruddy Okonkwo met Kanu as journalists. That was a journalistic scoop in my view. You cannot hang journalists for doing their work.
But look at Sowore from the SW. I've seen it said that he is not Yoruba but Apoi, or Ijaw Arogbo. Even if he said that himself, all the old men who see themselves as Yoruba nationalists especially those who impress on us daily that Oodua Republic is the only way forward, have given Sowore a wide berth. They cant be caught dead identifying with him. I thought their old age wisdom should dictate that they embrace the youth no matter what after all our people say Omo eni o le buru ka le fekun paje. No matter how stubborn ones child is you cannot push him into the mouth and claws of a leopard. If these tribal nationalists would get their wishes and Nigeria breaks into Oodua, Biafra, Arewa as well as maybe 400 more countries, will they cede Apoi to Igboland ? There goes our insincerity in the so called restructuring debate. Most people pushing the idea are working from the point of view of anger, disdain and separatism. Most of the anger is justified as a result of past and present injustices but it is obvious that given a chance, the seekers of these tribal nirvanas will also repeat injustices against those they see as outsiders or fringe players. They have failed the first test at least in the SW by not knowing that Mavericks like Sowore should never be wholly left in the cold. Even those of Sowores generation and below are mocking him. They forget that if he doesn't die in jail he can only get stronger as a person.
Anyway that is how most of them abandoned Abiola and accepted posts from Abacha. Abiola declared himself president at Ekotedo. Sowore did nothing of such. His only mistake to me is that he made his call for a peoples revolution sound like some aluta rage. But even people in government know that they need such acerbic opposition to make them sit up. The economy is in a spiral. Obafemi Awilowo had been charged with treason in the 60s. It's only recently we learnt clearly that Awo did recruit insurgents and probably armed them to take down the government. But growing up nothing wrong or untoward could ever be said about the great Awo. Those were the days when Yorubas adhered to the age long ethos of cohesion. Today most are seeking the kingdom of alerts and account balances.
There is God. I will be seeking the attention of Barr Falana to see how this embarrassing impasse can be resolved so that the mockery from Justice Ojukwu can pass over us as a people. So much for our Yoruba republic. For now perhaps..
