At least 13 dead, 20 injured in Slovakia bus crash - fire service

Officials say a bus has collided with a truck in Slovakia, killing at least 13 people.

At least 13 people died and 20 were injured when a bus crashed into a truck in western Slovakia on Wednesday, the fire service told AFP.

"I can confirm the death of 13 people and 20 injuries in an accident near Nitrianske Hrnciarovce where a bus and a truck collided," said Zuzana Farkasova, spokeswoman for Slovak firefighters and rescuers.

Police and firefighters say the accident occurred on Wednesday in the town of Nitranske Hrnciarovce near the city of Nitra, 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of Bratislava, the capital.

The firefighters say the number of dead and injured still might rise.
