Nigeria's North East: Borno govt confirms 2 dead after Boko Haram attack in Biu

The Borno State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Salisu Kwaya-Bura, yesterday confirmed that two people died and 13 sustained injuries following the Sunday evening attack on Biu town by suspected Boko Haram militants. Daily Trust reports.

Speaking at Biu General Hospital, the Commissioner told the State Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur, that the victims were hit by stray bullets while fleeing for safety.

According to the Commissioner, all the surviving 13 victims who sustained injuries were in stable condition and receiving treatment while an X-ray would be carried out on those with bullet wounds.

Boko Haram insurgents have been a threat to the Nigerian government and others in the lake Chad region since 2009 when their leader was extra-judicially killed in Police custody in Borno state.

Thousand of civilians and soldiers  have been killed and millions displaced by the endless attacks by the Islamic Jihadists.

Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari won the 2015 election with the promise to end the insurgency within three months and end corruptions in the country.

Instead his military style regime become lawless and punishing the law abiding citizens with the reward of been enlisted in the army, the so call repentant terrorist who have killed thousands of civilians, overrun the military barracks and kidnapped innocent school girls.
