Nigeria's Supreme Court delivered judgments on Oyo, Kaduna, Nasarawa governorship tussles today

The Nigeria's Apex Court on Wednesday affirmed the elections of Seyi Makinde as governor of Oyo State, Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Abdullahi Sule of Nassarawa State as the winners of the March 9, 2019, governorship election.

Governor Seyi Makinde of PDP wins Bayo Adelabu of APC at Supreme Court to put definite end to all legal cases emanating from the March 9, 2019 governorship election in Oyo state. The judgement which was delivered by Justice Ukaego Mary Peter-Odili CFR who presided over the Oyo State Election Appeal at the Supreme Court in Abuja in the Oyo State Governorship election appeal between Seyi Makinde Vs Adebayo Adelabu.

The seven-man panel led by Justice Mary Peter-Odili also heard the appeals over the disputes surrounding the governorship polls in Kaduna and Nasarawa.

The Supreme Court found merit in the appeal filed by Mr Makinde that the majority judgment of the Appeal Court was a miscarriage of justice.

The court in a unanimous judgment, therefore, affirmed the majority judgment of the trial tribunal which upheld the election of Makinde as the duly elected governor of Oyo State.

The judgment applies to the remaining three appeals emanating from the election.

Also on Wednesday, the Court affirmed Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State as the winner of the March 9, 2019, governorship election. The Apex Court has also affirmed the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nassarawa State
