Jubilation in Abuja as soldiers, police foil bank robbery

First Bank PLC commends the Security Operatives 

There is a commotion in the Mpape area of Abuja on Saturday as a team of soldiers and policemen stopped a gang of armed robbers who had broken into a first generation bank. Punch Reported.

It was learnt that the robbers had gained entry into the bank when the security operatives arrived at the scene.

According to reports, the armed robbers had refused to vacate the premises of the bank after one of them was shot at when he attempted to escape.

Shortly after gaining access, the police and army arrived the scene but the robbers had refused to come out of the bank.

The Joint team of police, army find alternate means of entering into @FirstBankngr to arrest other members of the robbery team.

The armed robbers were said to have stormed the bank, shooting sporadically into the air to scare people away.

Residents of the area troop out to celebrate and embrace the professionalism displayed by the combine security team as they matched the robbers to the awaiting security vehicles.

The bank in a Corporate Statement signed by  Folake Ani-Mumuney,  Group Head, Marketing & Corporate Communications department of the bank confirmed the attempted robbery and commended the team pf police and military for an immediate response that foiled the criminal attempt.

"We wish to inform everyone that the attempted robbery incident that happened at one of our branches in Abuja has been foiled; customers and staff are unhurt; and the suspects have been apprehended."
