IAEA Says Notices New activity at Iran's Pickaxe Mountain, Accusing Tehran of Non-Compliance with Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act
The International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA says it has detected new activity at Iran’s heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain site, but has no evidence yet of what is happening inside the underground complex.
IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said inspectors have not accessed the site and are relying on remote imagery.
The agency, backed by the United States is accusing Iran of not confirming with the UN nuclear non-proliferation act.
The Board of Governors of the United Nations nuclear watchdog passed a resolution accusing Tehran of failing to comply with its nuclear nonproliferation commitments and referring the matter to the UN Security Council (UNSC).
United States and its key European allies are looking for all means to pressure Iran. This comes more than six months into the US-Israeli war against Iran, and as tensions flare in the Strait of Hormuz, where the US and Iran have traded attacks on vessels in recent days.
IAEA has not had access to the Iranian nuclear facilities since the US/Israel 12 days war against Iran.
