NIGERIA: AMOTEKUN SECURITY OPERATION AND LEADERSHIP DEFICIT

The brouhaha over Amotekun initiative revealed to all the leadership deficit, insensitivity and selfishness of many in Yoruba land parading themselves as leaders

The quintet of Bola Tinubu, Yemi Osinbajo and three Governors (Dapo Abiodun, Gboyega Oyetola and Babajide Sanwoolu) has shown to the whole world they aspired for political leadership only for their own selfish reasons and not for the collective interests of the Yorubas

For reasons best known to the duo of Bola Tinubu and Yemi Osinbajo, 2023 presidential aspiration trumps every other considerations even if all Yorubas are assassinated, killed, maimed and raped they are not bothered. I hope the two are reminded by this bible passage "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth"- Proverbs 27:1 (NKJV)

The trio of Dapo Abiodun, Gboyega Oyetola and Babajide Sanwoolu Governors of Ogun, Osun and Lagos States respectively are the ones to be pitied, these are adults in their 50's or early 60's, Chief Executives of their state but will have to kowtow to the dictates of another mere mortal like them. Let me admonish the trio with these passage from the book of life "O foolish Galatians! who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified" - Galatians 3:1 (NKJV)

Last week when Amotekun was launched in Ibadan, they all gave us different excuses why they were all absent, Babajide Sanwoolu informed us the weather visibility did not allow him to fly his helicopter, Dapo Abiodun informed us state function and change of date didn't allow him to attend the event while Gboyega Oyetola told us the Interior Minister, Osun indigene was visiting his state reason his Deputy represented him, fair enough

After Abubakar Malami gave his voodoo response that Amotekun initiative is illegal, you will expect brave, courageous and patriotic Yoruba leaders to kick against Abubakar Malami statement, and also lendng their support to their other three colleagues, what do we have they are mute and totally silent on the issue as if its none of their business

Anyway the progenitors and our ancestors "Alalę Yoruba" knows how to deal with quislings, saboteurs and traitors in our midst, theirs will not be the first, they need to revisit our chequered history and the stark truth will be revealed to them

‘Operation Amotekun’, (The Yoruba States' Joint Police Force to protect the region from kidnapping and other forms of crime in the region) the outfit is a product of the security summit organised by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission on behalf of the six governors in June. The summit was organised in response to the wave of kidnappings, armed robberies and other forms of criminality which peaked in the region at the time.
