China using WeChat, Twitter to track people sharing COVID-19 misinformation

Two Antibody Test Kits for Rapid Detection Approved

 

In a bid to hunt down novel coronavirus critics, China is making use of Twitter and WeChat to track down people who share information what officials consider as "negative information" about the deadly outbreak.

People who have shared information about the virus that originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan describe relatively tame social media interactions that nonetheless resulted in both direct and indirect responses from the Chinese government, the Vice reported on Monday.

Meanwhile, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) has approved two antibody test kits for the rapid detection of novel coronavirus infections in China, reports China Xinhua News. 

All visitors, foreigners, and Chinese nationals departing from Japan and South Korea will be sent to hotels for a 14-day mandatory quarantine starting from Tuesday.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in South Korea has almost reached 1,000, as 84 fresh cases were recorded, CNN reports. The death toll has also increased to 10.
